Just wondering others thoughts on a few things. First, did the two point stance cost the Griz other games they struggled to stop the run? I can think of struggles stopping the run against Cal Poly and especially the last drive against Northern Colorado. However, I am not sure if the reason other teams had much success running the ball is a result of how our line lines up. It would make sense why teams like Northern Arizona seemed to dominate the line of scrimmage.
Also, if Choate had not pointed out the fact that they identified a weakness and exploited it, would the Griz still utilize it as often next season? Do the Griz continue to line up this way on a regular basis such as supposed passing downs? Even after being burned on multiple draw plays like we seen? One would hope the Griz coaching staff can learn from their mistakes and correct them but I guess only time will tell. I have a hard time believing Semore would have identified this as an issue that needs addressed. Hope I am wrong.
Lastly, I noticed a huge gap in the middle of Grizzly defense well after the Cats had torn up the Griz with the draw play. It seemed the Griz defensive formation invited the Cats to run up the middle as some fans near me also mentioned.
I still say the reason Choate publicly pointed it out was recruiting, he has said he wants to "own the state" so he went out and got the win then said how simple it was, basically pissed on Stitts leg and marked territory. Recruits are going to like the attitude and be more likely to sign to play for a coach like that. Who wants to play for staff that is making fundamental mistakes like that in base scheme?
I am not arguing weather the 2 point stance is valid or not just that the press statements are as much a PR statement to recruits as it is anything else. Its gotten a lot of play in the Montana press so it looks like a good tactic.
