Not the same as far as I could tell. I have Dishnetwork also and have accessed WatchESPN in the past but I was still required to sign up for ESPN+ to gain access to the game via my AppleTV box. I will cancel before the 7 day trial is up so it won't cost me anything.

They are separate. WatchESPN is essentially ESPN3 and ESPN+ is an add on streaming service.

Last week's cat game and this week's Griz game are on the home turf of MVFC teams, and they hold the rights. Their agreement is with ESPN who holds the TV rights.
For whatever reason, I was able to watch the tail-end of the cat game on TV on ABC this weekend. Any idea why their game was aired in Montana with it being a MVFC home game and the ESPN+ ordeal?
No clue, I couldn't find it on my satellite, but I also wasn't too interested in attempting to find it either

The easiest way to do this is with an HDMI cord (it will provide video and sound). If you don't have an HDMI port on your device, the other cord based option is connect a VGA cord and audio cords. I guarantee a local kid will do this for you if you don't know how.
Then, either sign up for ESPN+. Or, if you don't like signing up for things on the internet (understandable), pm me. For those that know my PM option, it will be perfect this time. I can use different hardware this time. :thumb:
Glad to hear the service is good. And I agree that things are "trending" (in the old-fashioned sense) toward more and more streaming for sports, especially for the "lesser" attractions. For over a year, I have been searching for a way to get better bandwidth at our place, so far without success. (Long story, but let's just say I'm not a big fan of CenturyLink from the customer said.) But I do see a glimmer of progress ... Thank God! for the wonders of market competition.mtgrizzly said:I'm sorry that some of you will not be able to watch game this weekend due to it only being available via the internet.
But you all need to brace yourself as I am sure ESPN will force most of the games they broadcast for playoffs via the ESPN+ platform. As it has been mentioned earlier in the thread i am sure ESPN3 is on its way out the door and they will force everything to the new ESPN+
For those of you that can have the bandwidth and can stream it ESPN+ is great and its only $5 a month. I have watched a ton of games on it the last month or so and have been very happy with it.
GO GRIZ!!

Yes, in Missoula, I watched the Cat /SDSU game on the SWX ABC affiliate. Since it was in SDSU of the Missouri Valley, maybe ESPN agreed to let the local ABC affiliate broadcast it since they are owned by the same company?get'em_griz said:BWahlberg said:reinell30 said:Why the hell doesn't our local Montana stations cover our two teams anymore? I used to do this with ESPN3 but when I tried it with the ESPN+ it shut the video off and would never display the game. I finally had to run it through the internet access on the tv which was choppy.

IVLIANVS said:$5/month doesn't really sound all that bad. How much does that really boil down to, though? I mean, how often am I actually going to want/need to watch it in that month?
Here's the real problem. Maybe it's different in the SW, far East, etc. of the State. However, the Great Falls / Helena station last weekend showed the kitties' away game. It wasn't just a part of it, as another game ended, or some other last minute change. It was scheduled. When I looked through the guide to find the Griz game last week, the Cat game was already scheduled to be shown after it.
Now, this weekend, the Griz are the away team, playing against the same conference that the Cats were playing last week, and the only game that network is broadcasting is the Cats' home game.
There is an obvious bias, and it disgusts me. It isn't like Great Falls and Helena are closer to Bozo than Zoo-town. They're right in the freaking middle. They can do it for a Cats' game, why not the Griz?
