This...is the worse defense I've ever seen MSU field. Worst than Solomonson era teams. They are so bad that they cannot be called "defensive"...or even mildly resistant! It's time for a complete defensive change and for the fan to expect 3 years of bad Bobcat football. Next year a senior O-Line leaves and our prolific offense will sputter...our defense will...not defend. This in fact might be the beginning of the end of the Ash era leading to his retirement or promotion to AD....that's how bad this defense is!
Kane is clearly not the answer to the defensive coordinator job. Sad to say because the kids like him, we like him, he is a Bobcat hall of famer ... but he has lost control of the car and it looks like it is going to be a big crash.
...
Wombats give "meltdown" a whole new meaning, Chernobyl quality. ...
With all the “heat and discontent” about the MSU defense, I wondered just how bad they were. (As you all know, I love numbers.)
Take heart, kittie faithful (?), there are
five teams worse than yours in giving up yards. NCAA data has MSU at #118 in total defense, giving up 487.2 yards per game (276.0 of that being rushing yards). And, BTW, one team that’s worse is EWU -- they rank #121, giving up 528.0 ypg (318.3 rushing). [UM is #43, giving up a total of 355.5 ypg.]
Things look slightly better in terms of scoring defense. There are twenty teams worse than MSU. You’re #103 in scoring defense, giving up 36.3 points per game. Two teams that are worse include: EWU (#112 at 39.7 ppg) and Idaho State (#116 at 42.9 ppg). [UM is #37 in scoring defense, giving up 22.8 ppg]
So things could be worse … lots worse.
You could be a Missouri State fan. Their team is next to last in total defense (allowing 552.2 ypg) and last in scoring defense, giving up 52.2 ppg.

Which is why they’re 1-4, with their only win being over Chadron State, 21-13. (MSU fans remember Chadron State, I believe.
