12500???

you guys are right on -- can't sell playoff tix for less than lowest priced regular season ticket. so UM -- not ncaa -- really set the playoff price (as they have before) last winter before season tix and regular tix ever went on sale.

Should sell tickets for $10 a pop, make announcement.
The NCAA sets the ticket prices. They are known for their competence with regards to FCS.

Coastal Carolina tickets for the game this weekend were $15.. as usual, Montana is paying for everyone else's playoff experience.

Spot on. You and I are so awesome though Mr T we should count as 500 fans a piece. I bet most people show up just to be close to our greatness.

Attendance for the last few opening playoff games at WA-Griz

2014 -- 14,018 vs San Diego - W 52-14
2013 -- 17,345 vs Coastal Carolina - L 42-35

2014 attendance was due to the major winter storm that hit the same weekend.
2013 was most likely due to the cold, but at that point was one of the lowest first-round attendance games.

Before 2013, we usually had a bye during the Thanksgiving weekend. Attendance always goes back up after this weekend.
2013 and 2011 are the only first round byes the Griz have received. Before 2010 there was only16 teams in the tournament so all teams in the tournament started play Thanksgiving weekend.

I forgot that we had a bye in 2013. It'll be a sad day if we only manage 12,500 fans.

... actually, no. It'll suck for all those people who stayed home while those of us who go get to enjoy another live Griz football game! :thumb:

Got it...I guess th6at makes sense. The ncaa doesn't Jack up the price, but the restrict schools from selling below regular season market value.

I really dislike the ncaa.....

maybe you should dislike the UM athletic department ticket pricing model....
Exactly! We must have the highest season FCS ticket prices in the country. If the athletic dept. turns its back on providing cost of attendance stipends (thus confirming their assumption that Griz fans will show up and pay outrageous ticket prices no matter what the win-loss record is), then maybe prices will become more reasonable as attendance drops.

Attendance was pretty good I believe through the regular season even with the ticket prices the way they were. Offering cheaper tickets (throughout the regular season) at the last minute just to fill the seats I don't believe is a good idea. It would just have people holding out for the "lets make a deal" price.

So.....$35.00 was the low and stadium seemed to be filling up pretty well. Why cut into the revenue by going much lower?

The ticket price itself for most people is only a fraction (Sometimes a large, but most times a very small fraction) of what it costs to attend a game if you pencil out everything involved.

Food (before, during or after) transportation, lodging, missed work, child care, gear purchases etc....)

Does anyone really attend a GRIZ game where they aren't spending a bunch of money they normally wouldn't have if they sat around home all day and cleaned the soap scum out of the shower?

Anybody been in the ticket office today? Hopefully there are walk-ins buying up tickets today!

Was there this morning, hardly anyone else was there...

:thumb: I agree, this is a bonus game and I am going to enjoy it. I can't control what other people do, and everyone has their reasons for not going, so rather than worry about it or cast judgement I'm just going to go to the game and have as much fun as possible.

The bad roads and large number of accidents throughout the state this week probably play a bigger role than the forecast gametime temperature. Many fans have to cross the passes..

Not worth the risk. Newspapers have the stories of those who ignore reality, and road reports.

Griz don't have fair-weather fans.........or do they....

Didn't you already have to turn in your gear to the equipment manager? Seriously, I don't really follow the Cats, but when was the last time they won a playoff game?

So, it's been a while. Have fun watching the flagship represent the State of Montana in the playoffs (again) while State College sits at home with a losing record. I'm still pulling for a merger. There is no reason why State College should even field a team. That entire charity is superfluous.

That's an ugly number. Man, our attendance average during the regular season was record-setting, but it's going to take a monster hit with that crowd. I'm bringing two first-timers with me anyway.
