AZ, I think that would that be considered a apples and BURNT ORANGE argument.

Anyway, the bottom line is, we all agree attendance on this particular weekend has always been weak. That's not up for date, I'm just saying it's a new development for it to be 12,500 weak.

The fans who aren't going to the game Saturday would be the same fans who would still have "other s--t going on" if the Griz were playing Georgia State in a Sun Belt game this weekend.
Apples and oranges. That would be a regular season conference game (so season ticket holders would already have the tickets). Attendance would likely be quite a bit higher because of that.
I was at the UT/Texas Tech game last night. I bet there were 40,000 empty seats in that 105,000 sat stadium. What's their excuse?

Hey, I agree 100%. I was directing my comments at havre....and I can assure you, there were nowhere NEAR 94,000 people in that stadium. That might have been including number of season ticket holders, but there were empty seats EVERYWHERE. I bet there weren't 100 students in the north endzone. My seats were at the 50 yard line and there were empty seats all around me...Potomac Griz said:AZGrizFan said:Potomac Griz said:havgrizfan said:And on the other hand, this is just another example of why we as a fan base have zero business proclaiming that we are FBS Big Time ready. Maybe because Texas sucks this year and is 4-7? Our attendance would likely dip a bit too if we were 7th place in our conference. Also, official attendance for that game was 94,299.
The argument being made (using our low possible attendance numbers for this playoff game) is apples and oranges. A person shouldn't point to low attendance for an FCS playoff game as evidence that the Griz aren't ready for a move up & insinuating our regular season attendance would be similar. Our regular season attendance, even if we're playing a team like FT Lewis, shows why that argument is flawed.
Besides, teams have moved up and been successful that didn't have near the support the Griz have.. but that's an argument for another thread.

We will have to agree to disagree on that one. I think if we manage to draw over 20,000 for teams like Oklahoma Panhandle State while the entire state is on fire and it's 850 degrees we'd draw pretty close to our average attendance for a regular season game against Georgia State when it's actual football weather out (cold!) & they've already paid for the tickets due to them being part of the season ticket package. People having already paid for the tickets helps encourage them to attend.
It is disappointing that only 12,500 have sold so far. It's not like we are playing a non-scholarship team like last year. SDSU is a hell of a team & the weather is going to be awesome football weather :thumb:

havgrizfan said:Box, I'm not saying that doesn't have something to do with it. It probably does. But then again, they were 1-2 with two pretty garbage losses in a row, and were 3-4 after a debacle against Weber and still drew over 25,000 for both of those rebound games. I don't think anyone is suggesting that a Thanksgiving weekend game should sell out - it never has, not only at Montana but in the history of the playoffs anywhere probably. But the last two seasons, this game has been especially bad, and wouldn't even fill up the original Wash-Griz.

Meanwhile, Nebraska is 5-6 with a very, very angry fan base, and there are 92,000 fans watching their game with Iowa right now.
That's exactly it. A host school cannot charge less for a playoff game than they do for their lowest priced regular season reserved seat -- and that is $35.MrTitleist said:kemajic said:The NCAA sets the ticket prices. Coastal Carolina tickets for the game this weekend were $15.. as usual, Montana is paying for everyone else's playoff experience.

Was there this morning, hardly anyone else was there...

Looked like it was a wet one from what I saw on TV.

Everyone I know that is attending this game or not ...... was either going to.....or not. Never heard either side bitch about the price or use it as an excuse for not attending. Maybe I just know the wrong people.

I'd pay $100 per ticket to go to the game if I didn't have to pay $1200 per ticket to GET there.
