The ‘younger crowd’ simply does not have the passion our older base grew up with. My kids friends are fairly ambivalent about sports in general. My kids tried about every sport played in these parts. Gymnastics, swimming, football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, martial arts. The only one they stuck with was martial arts where my daughter is a second degree black belt in tae kwan do and a blue belt I think in judo. Once they got into high school they got so busy that they quit going. I think there are a lot more options for activities than there were when I was a kid. Plus we are raising a generation of kids who have extremely wel?l developed thumbs.
