10 win season

The two wins the cats enjoyed were more Griz losses than cat victories. Two fumbles inside the 5 yard line in 2010 gave the game to the cats. Last year the cats barely won against a team weakened by the loss of the head coach, the loss of the starting qb and general anarchy surrounding the program. I think things will stabalize and reverse itself and the Griz will be a much better team this year. 2011 is a good indication of the differences between the Griz and the cats.
EWU barely got by last year at home. That Griz loss was due to coaching errors on the Griz side and some really great play by the Eagles at the end of the game. The Griz could very well be the sole champions of the BSC this year.

What are your excuses for the losses to Appy, NAU, SUU, & ND?

Not having Jordan Johnson. Undefeated with JJ.

I think what's interesting that with our recent rivalries with EWU and MSU there's a different thread:

Over the last 4 years in the EWU/UM series the home team has always won
Over the last 4 years in the UM/MSU series the road team has always won

UM hosts EWU and travels to MSU this year.

I think that's more due to the fact that the 2 years we lost to those teams, was our worst teams in 2 decades.

The griz have the worst head coach and that is a big factor in winning. Just think back to some of the play calling last year.

Delaney doesn't do any of the play calling and the play caller from last year is now gone.

Delaney adjust the Scheme each week, that is bad enough.

And it's up to the OC to make changes in the game if the scheme isn't working.

The scheme, more often than not, worked well for the first quarter. The problem came when teams figured it out, and our OC either didn't care or didn't change the scheme at all. Hence the complete stagnation in quarters 2-4 last year.

Were you even watching last year?

While beating dead horses to death about last year it can be noted again and again:

Our coaching last year was a scudding motion at times.
Clock management? None. Zero.
Game management? Bad. Worse.
Special teams? Half full or half empty? Both. All the time. Every time.
The papers Delaney had attached to his body belt? To slick for toilet paper.
The OC and QB coach? Like a sanitary napkin used over and over. Then Gone With The Wind!
Time Outs used before every punt and FG try? Overweening in reverse.
Pass defense? Last in the entire world. We were ozone friendly.

Yes indeed last season was a mess. Repulsive. With disgust. On and on we go about last seasons grounding. But that was last year and this is a new year. Forget about it. Look at what we might have for 2013! Many of last years problems have died. New seeds have germinated and look healthy and strong. Toss out all that fiddle-faddle and we have a damn good team.

Let us hope we start out ranked fourth in our league or so. Pressure will be on the blow-hards that were lucky (2 some extent) last year. In the end we look way better now than 5 months ago!

coaching directly cost us 2 games last year. piss poor qb'ing cost us two more. Delaney will be better (can't be worse) and having JJ will add wins. If we lose more than two games (regular season) I will be very surprised.

It's not often I agree with you Umista, but I do agree that it simply can't get any worse than last year. I disagree totally with the fiddle-faddle though.
