Griz Soccer 2026

Players should start arriving in Missoula this week or next as the first match is Friday, August 7th - which is three weeks plus two days from today. They will have housing assignments, determine where to eat if dorms are not ready for fall, school admin stuff and physicals exams - orthopedic, cardiac, etc to make sure they are ready to practice and compete.

The NCAA has rules as to how many days of practice are allowed before the first game. I'm not sure but probably something like 14 days.

Lots of freshmen coming in for life-changing experiences. What better place than Missoula!

The girls already moved into there temporary dorms which was on Monday.

The players moved on campus Monday and have been onboarding this week.

Not ideal - but smaller roster could have been a financial decision. The team has 14 full scholarships to divvy up among the players.

Gore brought in two international transfers that will likely start & make an immediate impact. International players “cost more” because they do not qualify for US financial aid or in-state tuition. To maintain F1student visas they can’t be employed or receive NIL money.

And I doubt he could ask any transfers/returners to take less scholarship $, so they went with quality over quantity?

I’m okay with a more compact roster if we can stay healthy—but are quality walk-ons a thing in women’s soccer? Asking for a friend
