Joining the Mountain West would run an $8MM - $9MM annual deficit - can we overcome that?

"Montana State University sells approximately 13,000 football season tickets annually, which represents the official cap for season ticket packages at Bobcat Stadium.

Here are a few key details regarding their recent season ticket trends:

  • Sustained Sellouts: Bobcat Athletics officially caps season tickets to ensure a portion of the stadium's capacity remains available for student seating, visiting team allotments, and single-game ticket sales. MSU has completely sold out its allotment for consecutive seasons (including 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026).
  • The 13K Milestone: The program first reached this definitive sellout ceiling in June 2023, marking the first time in university history that the entire season allotment of nearly 13,000 tickets was completely exhausted before the summer fully got underway.
  • Stadium Context: With Bobcat Stadium's official capacity sitting around 17,777 (though regular-season crowds and temporary seating expansions frequently push attendance past 21,000–22,000 for big games), season ticket holders account for a massive percentage of the stadium's total baseline capacity."
Who cares on the number of seats sold if there AD and AD Dept are brining in millions more than Griz with donations/fund raising. By the looks of it they will have nicer facilities all around in a few years.

Jesus Christ do you ever shut up? We get it. You don’t like Haslam. You’ve hammered home your point all offseason. You don’t need to keep providing examples for us. We got it the first time thousand times. Shinn starts his post on Wednesday. How about we let the chips fall where they may at that point?

Everyone should care about the number of seats sold. It adds to the revenue of the athletic department. MSU has to raise more in donations to offset the millions in ticket revenue that they don’t get.

Yes to some extent. With MSU master plan of adding seats it will equal out plus they still will have donations. BSU and Idaho were at one time equals than BSU woke up

BSU had more big companies and big donors in Boise area. And did a good job.

MSU’s plan is a 20 year plan. It doesn’t have cost estimates. Great to have even this type of aspirational plan, but it looks like mostly pie in the sky to me. They will
likely keep doing things in pieces and phases as they have been. They appear to have some momentum.

26 pages when one was enough.
Like, why talk about Mountain West when the PAC-12 has only eight teams?

Such as: Boise St. San Diego St.
Colorado St. Texas St.
Fresno St. Utah St.
Oregon St. Washington St.

Montana and Montana State to make it ten team conference, with two more to go.

UM can and does compete and beat some of these schools in all sports but football, football is the limiting factor in moving up to any conference.

I assume this is sarcasm.
Huh, not really...initially. But just a thought, if affordable, that is. Making more sense than any other conference that I've heard about. Unless someone else has already suggested such. I haven't gone through the past forty pages trying to catch up, though.

Maybe the Pac-12 of today's world would welcome the idea more so than any other conference; seemingly trying to catch up to past glory days, perhaps. Might make it less expensive to join.
