2026 National Champion Montana Grizzlies

I have never considered being the "sole" purveyor of truth, nor even being a purveyor of truth. You are overly-sensitive. I knew you wouldn't get my joke.

I was talking about the Griz games against the Cats, not other games. When I talk about 2 games, I'm not obligated to talk about other games. Can you not stick to the subject? And I wouldn't ever say that the Griz were just terrible at times, like you did. That is football. Every play doesn't work. I undertand the game of football. You don't.

A play or two going the other way, is not the same as a team, like the Griz, looking terrible at times. Do you truly not even understand that? My god, don't post like you know what is going on, if you don't. You have to temper your expectations so that you won't be disappointed? Huh? You are a fan. Are you so caught up in how the Griz play, that you can't take a loss or a disappointment? Man, I am not like that at all.

No, I don't: "If you're going to play the "if only" game, you have to look at it from the other side as well." I don't have look at anything other than what I want to look at. You are, of course, welcome to say what you want, but I no longer feel that I have to baby and support you like I did for many years. I assume you know the term, for players of sports: "Play within yourself."

I'm happy to continue the discussion.
Now THAT'S actually funny. Thanks for the entertainment.

Before we all get way too overconfident, I highly suggest going back and watching some of last year's games. I've been rewatching them and there were times we looked downright awful, and barely won a few close games. I'm not saying we're going to be terrible this year, but this massive amount of optimism might just be a *tiny* little bit misplaced for right now.
But this is true every year, including those we won national championships or went like 14-1. Geez, our undefeated season we got wildly outplayed by winless Idaho State and had to kick a FG at the buzzer to win. We've made the national championship in the year we had to go to OT to beat Central Washington. Every great team has those moments (yes, the bubs too).

That's true, but I think NDSU kind of skewed everyone's expectations of what a true championship program looks like on a year to year basis, and not in a good way. They certainly had a bad game here and there, and even a bad season or two, but they were so consistently good for so long that they set the bar pretty high which I'm sure colored my expectations.

So maybe I am looking at it with too jaded of an eye, but it's more out of concern for the program I love, than it is out of pure criticism. And as I said in a previous post, it's also to temper my own expectations so I'm not wildly disappointed when things don't go the way that I had hoped. I realize that others deal with this differently and that's okay too.

And my original post probably wasn't meant to be taken all that seriously, but I was rewatching a lot of the games and realizing just how incredibly close some of them were. Which I hadn't really remembered until I started watching them again.

I'm just hoping and praying that the O-Line and the d-line get better this next year. If that happens and everything else stays about the same, the sky is the limit. But man, it's been an awfully long time since the last national championship and I'm still afraid to get my hopes up. Go Griz.

There were some games last year that the Grizzlies lost, but through dumb luck managed to win, like the EWU game.

There is a difference between soundly defeating the opposing team and literally having a bad snap or two go their way. Last year there were at least four games that the Griz managed to stumble their way into winning.

I'm not saying they were a bad team. The players and coaches picked it up in the playoffs, but the regular season was a prime example of failing upward.

I wouldn't say the Griz lost the EWU game "but through dumb luck managed to win". We jumped out to a 22 point lead and then let them slowly get back in the game. Yes, the bad snap inside the 10 was dumb luck on our part but there's no guarantee that EWU was gonna score on that last play.

Careful. I'm sure that hoops and others will be here to yell at you next. Thanks for making my point for me though.

You're certainly right that there's no guarantee, but the way they were moving and had us on our heels, I'd conservatively have given about an 80% chance they were going to score and win the game. Thankfully they didn't!

Someone brought up the old teams that struggled to beat winless ISU and D2 CWU, and that's true, but even in spite of those performances, those teams didn't seem as flawed as our team last year, and the major flaw that I feel held us back from beating arguably the only really good team we played all year was our lack of depth, especially on defense.

That's probably the thing I'm looking for BK to improve on the most, in addition to also improving our player development, and his efforts in the recruiting game so far have been a great step towards doing just that.

Don't let the naysayers get you down, Don't Kick 2 Bergen. I hope you are right, but 25 years high hopes, and crushing reality, have put a massive stain on the brand. I would think that all the FCS teams that have gone FBS, and all the DII teams that moved up to FCS, would have watered the soup to the point that the Griz could FINALLY get a NC. If not this year, then WHEN?!!! Looks promising this year. Is BK, and staff, up to the task? The gun is cocked and loaded.

It will happen, there is no other option
