Griz Soccer 2026

Soooo…as we wait for roster announcements: what BSC teams do we think will step into the power-void left by UM, the former three-peat conference champions this 2026 season?

Don’t hate on me —fingers crossed it is Montana once again—but since many ppl on this thread are obviously well- informed soccer fans, I’m curious on insights. Who is the best bet?

I’ll go first: Idaho. Dark horse pick: NAU, given their recent acquisitions & friendly home schedule at 7000+ ft altitude

Idaho would statically look the favorite. Weber keep there back line but loses all their goals. EWU loses pretty much everything. NAU is in financial.trouble as a school and lost some starters in the portal.

Utah Tech and Idaho, Utah Tech has a good coaching staff and recruits Spokane and Utah very well. Idaho has a solid defense and experienced goalie, they pretty much handled WSU during there last scrimmage.

I would pick those 2 as well. I would say Utah Tech will be pretty good as well. Those 3 and UM would be the top 4 in my opinion.

Utah Tech does lose their starting attacking mid and wide forward who both had huge goals and assists for them. So they could be a struggle for them.

Sounds like each team lost some key players, could be an interesting/exciting season. One thing I noticed vs UW, Baylor and Seattle Griz needed more speed on top and at the OB position.

I totally misread your post. My bad! You were saying the lack of speed killed us in our games last year against Baylor, UW and Seattle. Agree and really shows the importance of speed on defense including CBs. Really wish Gore would start landing some transfers, feeling like we're the only program not announcing any as we're now 2 weeks in and 2 months from report date.

Supposedly they had players on campus the past two weeks so maybe hear something next week. Maybe with hiring the new assistant coach will attract strikers/forwards.

At least for the last few years, they have been a thorn in the Griz side, and at least mid-conference or better.

Besides this announcement have heard they lost a few good players but they also added a few good players from the portal but haven’t announced them yet. someone also said EWU was opting in the house settlement this year and had to many players, so who knows for sure

She was not their starting GKer. She played in 3 game, 168 minutes and allowed 8 goals - all against a really good Louisville team but clips don't look good. At West Georgia, she was third string, played 2 games, 128 minutes, gave up 4 goals.

If the stats are correct, tough stats. Could be a coaching issue, or a we have our other GK, so we will just hold this one, hard train the starter and then the others just get trained alongside. I assume Coach Jay was involved with pick up, and he seems to work with each GK separate, and given his results, I would trust the pick.
