Wortham ➡️ Jaguars

tyrann mathieu was an all-pro safety in the nfl. he's the same size as wortham, and was in the league at least a dozen years. it isn't unheard of for a relatively small guy with exceptional explosion skills to succeed in the nfl.
Tyrann’s issue coming out of LSU was his inability to pass a drug test rather than size. He is a different position than Wortham. Height generally matters more for receivers.

I could be wrong here, it happens from time to time, but just a quick mental scan of positional height tells me that there have been far more smallish offensive skill players than defensive. Outside of Mathieu and Darrell Green no small defensive standouts come to mind, yet many wee men on offense are fairly easy to pull from memory.

The average height for NFL CB’s is 5’11. Chris Harris Junior is another elite cb that was under 5’11.

Of course, size matters. It's one of many factors. But you said that he wasn't big enough to play in the NFL, and that's wrong. If he wasn't big enough to play in the NFL then he wouldn't have been signed. I'd take the view of the team that signed him over what your view is. And, making the 53-man roster is not the same as being in the NFL or making a team. The practice squad is also playing in the NFL.
Hoops, I forget you're an attorney. The one thing you are consistent with over the years has been splitting hairs. I appreciate that. Let me restate this:

Michael Wortham is "big" enough to play for an NFL team. He did sign an UDFA contract to play for the Jaguars. There was no specific language stating whether or not he would play on a 53 man roster or on a practice squad. That in itself negates my statement. HOWEVER... Having a spot on the practice roster and playing on the practice team and actually playing on the 53 man roster and in a regular season game is analogous.

Alabama... for folks like us, the word, analogous, means things are similar or equivalent in some respects, even though they are fundamentally different.

So both Hoops and I are right and wrong. It's almost a Schrödinger's cat situation. Except, while the cat is heard flopping around in the box, we neither know that it is alive or dying. :ROFLMAO:

FWIW - Greg Dortsch, an undrafted player out of Wake Forest, is the only WR in the NFL who’s 5-8 or shorter. Wortham’s faster - he ran 4.42 and Dortsch ran 4.59.

There are a total of 8 players 5-8 or shorter in the NFL, most RBs.
That guy's still bouncing around the league?

Huh.

How many of them played QB, RB, WR, and KR/PR in college?

I know it sounds like I don't want him to succeed. That's not true. I really do want him to succeed., I would love for him to blow the NFL away and end up a HOFer.

Good stuff here on Worthham , alternately best way/site/page to track his status?
You are probably best off with googling his name and looking at "news" to find every daily update.

https://www.bigcatcountry.com/ These sports nation sites often give the best free coverage day to day in camps if they are a good one. The Eagles one, for example, tracks every play in camp daily. I don't know how good the team that writes for the Jags is. If you want a one stop news site, that is a good one.

I'd imagine Skyline will keep a close eye on him.

Also, as much as this place can be a cesspool at times, Egriz is probably the best place for catching news. Somebody will post it here.
