MBBALL 2026 Big Sky Conference Transfer Tracker (New and Improved 2026 Model!)

Dylan Darling most recently the hero of St. Johns run in the NCAA tournament, and in the past of Idaho State has put or has entered the portal once again.

All three of our recent transfers chose higher level mid majors over Weber coming out of HS. We are now in the same boat as your Griz. We are in need of some big men. I suspect that they are a bit harder to come by. The third guy, not yet listed on page one, is Mason Abittan, a 6'6'' guard out of UNLV. 3.86 stars, red shirted his first year. Has 4 to play. I believe Aaron Powell has 2 years yet to play.

We don’t have the Twitter sleuths the way the Football board does, so no one knows.
Shopping the portal is a whole different game than recruiting freshmen. Most of the good players are looking for a payday and you negotiate with their agents first. They are not likely to visit unless you have already settled on a price and they won't commit until it's in writing. They don't usually announce offers until they commit. Sometimes they put out a list of interested parties, just to let all the coaches know that they may need to up their offer. My guess is that it will evolve into contracts, just like the pros, and that someone will have to negotiate some standards and regulations of some sort.

The P4 already have contracts that’s why you have seen some schools sue their players. Some schools in the current MWC/future PAC have contracts as well. Fun times.

We have roughly a day in a half before the portal closes. Closes at the end of the day tomorrow. Currently 2,300 players who have put their name in the portal. Schools can continue to sign players after the portal closes all the way up until roughly August 1st.

What we are seeing now are a lot of players like Eastern Washington Andrew Cook who have exhausted their eligibility are entering the portal. The reasons are multitude, but at the center is the hope the NCAA is going be forced to adopt a 5 in 5 model for athletics (court mandated or by the member institutions) for the upcoming year. So those players who have exhausted their eligibility in 4 years have some hope that rulings could extend their college career. Not entirely sure that is going to happen this summer unless it is court mandated.

Montana has had a few players on campus for visits but for all my digging I couldn't find any details as to who they were. I'm not in Missoula so I can't stalk some of the staff (nor would I). They are after bigs that include some familiar faces that UM has pursued in the past (Miles Goodman-6'11'' kid from Texas-Arlington) but its really hard to know because everything is being played so close to the vest by all parties.
