Brian Almon sounds like an awesome guy...
To answer your above question about why he may not stay in boise….It looks like the boise search has become political and shinn doesnt align with idaho’s powers that be. Or at least thats the perception of some.I could give two shits what the guys political ideology is. As long as he can do the job at a high level, which appears he has in the interim, then who gives a shit? Look at his resume. The guy is a hell of a fundraiser. He constructed two dorms at Boise State just during his second stint which was only 3 years. He’s been the Enrollment Director there and they’ve grown their enrollment every year he’s been in the post. Plus he’s a strong supporter of Athletics. He went to Congress and advocated for NIL Reform and got the Idaho Legislature to reinstate the Idaho-Boise State Football game. Does this guy not check all the boxes we’re looking for? I don’t care if he voted for Trump 3 times or 0 times. Let’s hire the best person for the job, and he looks like a pretty good option to me!
Same thing happened with Wyoming’s president search. People get way too keyed in on politics all the time and end up losing out on better candidates because of it.To answer your above question about why he may not stay in boise….It looks like the boise search has become political and shinn doesnt align with idaho’s powers that be. That's it! It's over! Next thing you know, we'll have a lady at QB, 90% taxes at the vegan-only dining hall, bans on internal combustion, and the only major will be Communism. It's coming to our front door. I saw it on the News.
This guy isn’t a fan. Haha
100% agree, so long as he produces results and prioritizes the right things, I couldn't care less either. His resume is impressiveI could give two shits what the guys political ideology is. I really don’t think it’ll be an issue. His resume speaks for itself. We can’t pass on this guy because of how he casts his vote at the ballot box. He knows the people he will report to and vote to confirm him next week have different political views than him. He’s a professional, and I’m sure this was discussed in the interview process as well!100% agree, so long as he produces results and prioritizes the right things, I couldn't care less either. Eyes wide open, the non critical focal points that Almon articulates are an issue, if they're made a focal point of the broader strategic plan of the university. Nobody should be confused about that.
Sounds like a lot of people in Idaho want to hire a modern era John Birch. UM will benefit from Boise's blunder.I really don’t think it’ll be an issue. His resume speaks for itself. Do you think DEI is the right thing? It seems to be his main focus.100% agree, so long as he produces results and prioritizes the right things, I couldn't care less either.
Anyone that doesn't support DEI is a modern era John Birch. Got it.Sounds like a lot of people in Idaho want to hire a modern era John Birch. UM will benefit from Boise's blunder.
No I don't at all. I think its a bunch of bullshit that distracts from the actual objectives of higher education. You asked...Do you think DEI is the right thing? It seems to be his main focus.
Not about how he votes politically. Could care less there. Its the ideology DEI stuff im not overly thrilled about. But, resumes are important, hes well accomplished. I'm hopeful in that regard.I really don’t think it’ll be an issue. His resume speaks for itself. We can’t pass on this guy because of how he casts his vote at the ballot box. I need to get better sourcesGood morning University of Montana,
I am pleased to share that Dr. Jeremiah Shinn is the presidential finalist who will visit campus on Monday and Tuesday, April 6-7.
Dr. Shinn currently serves as interim president at Boise State University.
During his visit, Dr. Shinn will participate in a series of meetings with faculty, staff, students and community members.
The visit includes an open forum with Dr. Shinn for the campus and the community at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 6 in the University Center Ballroom. The open forum will be followed by a community reception with Dr. Shinn at 5 p.m., also in the UC Ballroom.
Dr. Shinn’s curriculum vitae and a detailed schedule of his campus visit are available on the UM Presidential Search webpage. Your engagement is an essential part of this important decision for the University’s next chapter of leadership, and I encourage all members of the campus and community to join us for these sessions to share their perspectives. This visit represents a vital step in the presidential search process and will help us gather the insights needed to make a final recommendation to the Board of Regents.
Clayton Christian
Montana Commissioner of Higher Education
I don’t think he will get involved with any of that. College campuses are already very diverse places (on both sides of the political spectrum) that there’s not much he could even do on that front lol.Not about how he votes politically. Could care less there. Its the ideology DEI stuff im not overly thrilled about. But, resumes are important, hes well accomplished. I'm hopeful in that regard.
This guy is a political hack who loves dictators that declare martial law to prevent free and fair elections. This guy is so far right, Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan look like socialists compared to him. That should tell you how far right he is.
This guy isn’t a fan. Haha
They built a DEI golf course in my area. It's one that is accessible to people with wheelchairs and allows disabled veterans play the game of golf. Or is that DEI you support?Do you think DEI is the right thing? It seems to be his main focus.
As long as he fosters an environment of open and respectful dialogue with perspectives from all points of view, I'm good with it. I really don't like how a lot of college campuses shut down/prevented conservative viewpoints.I don’t think he will get involved with any of that.
