BK's Salary Package

Magic 8-ball says...Chipper or u-haul.

Sane humans would say... -dude lost zero players after announcement. Looks like he is adjusting the defense...players like the new assistants...recruiting seems to be going well...access to the program seems improved...

I don't like instability of the arrangement, but admittedly, my 8-ball abilities can't penetrate Haslem's skull.

I guess I see the precedent being set at 6-5 (4-4) the last time we had a new HC, but I think he might have to do better than that given that he’ll be at the end of his contract and, of course, he’s not Bobby. I mean, he’s a Bobby, but he’s not a “give him time, he has to get his guys, it takes time, it can’t happen overnight, he needs 7 years” Bobby.

Of course BH didn't take over a team that won 13 games the previous season.

That’s true! So, 13 wins or more to make 2026 a success, right? If he goes 6-5 like Bobby It Takes Time, he’d be non-renewed?
Bobby Hauck did not have the offensive talent coming in in 2018 ... we currently have an embarrassment of riches on the offensive side of the ball.

If we're anywhere close to 6-5 mid season, I don't know if BK makes it to the end of the season. If we're 13-2, I gotta think hes extended. Just a hunch. I also thought it was crazy that so many were running hauck out of town after 2025 so.... 🤷‍♂️

I get your schtick, but 6-5 after cleaning house from the Stitt debacle is far from maintaining the ship after a 13 win season. Reality is, BK getting a 1 year deal is far from the same as BH getting a 3 year deal as the expectations are much higher now than then. I am not saying it is Championship or bust, but a 6 win season would be to exact reason why UM gave him a 1 year deal.

1. I don't care enough to look, but I would want to know about Vigen's salary in year one. It doesn't make sense to compare the BK salary to Vigen, who has gone through back to back renegotiations and each leading to substantial pay raises.

2. If there was an external search and a normal down-select, there would likely be a more rigorous negotiation from the winner.

3. It doesn't make sense to only look at the base salary. The Idaho coach has a guaranteed match just through the media commitments, and then more with incentives. Lots of ways to get to a final compensation package.

4. I agree with whoever said the BK is probably fine with these terms. I suspect he excited to get a chance. Potentially life-changing.

For real, I’m wondering what number people think gets him an extension. 6 ain’t it, I agree. 8? Does he need 9? Are we Bobs now that will take 7 if he beats the Bobs? 🤷‍♂️

Obviously not, but neither is anyone else who has commented on this thread. And any posters making claims about what he or she would accept as a salary are also irrelevant since none of us are top level FCS coaches.
To be fair i responded to Dont Kicks comment that no one would work for less than 250k. He didn't specify head coaches or even what job we're applying for. I currently make almost 200k under that so yes, I'd gladly do almost any job for 250k.

I'll set the benchmark for BK and an extension, but I think many on here are overplaying the idea he just has to keep the wheels on...he has much to do on both sides of the ball. O-line / Rebuild D in a new scheme / New coaches etc.

In order to get a standard contract - BK must lead the team to at least the quarter finals of the playoffs. Outcome of the Brawl is not a major factor.

Anything short of this sets Haslam's replacement timeline in motion. If Haslam is doing what he should be doing - he is working the replacement framework right now.
