I've seen 3 of BK's spring practices so far, here's my impressions

Thanks a bunch. It's a blessing to have trusted eyes on the field from 2,000 miles away even if they see through maroon glasses the same tint as mine😁. Really hoping the O line develops well under the new coach, not that having s new coach is anything new to these kids. They give our skill players time and we're gonna average 35 points a game. I was wondering if Goodman was able to use a RS last year. He played in five games on ST's but i know they recently changed the rule from four to seven games i believe. Wonder where last years Fr fall at.

you can evaluate your players in spring ball and find out what you have but in the end you are stuck with what is there, good or bad
Players do improve from year to year so I think there needs to be some development but that can definitely happen. Guys have put on 20 lbs of good weight in a year. DT I am worried about sounds like some injuries and already limited numbers at the position right now. Some of that is from prior poor recruiting at the position. There will have to be some of our bigger DEs that make that transition like Keim or maybe a Mason which they can do then hope we can get a body or two over the summer.

Please, if there is a God, Bridges figures it out and becomes a major contributor. He has SUCH a high up-side. And with him, Dever, Hendrix AND oh by the way, DAVIS?? That’s a formidable starting 4 for KAY to target…

I’ve always had confidence in these younger OL guys…in some cases thought they should have played a bit more but we all know how Hauck was about playing seniors…

And let’s just hope that Hashim Jones goes the same route as Gillman…glad Hauck got him some PT last year to whet his appetite…that’s a formidable 1-2 punch.

Good info on the D. Those boys got some work to do, but I like what they brought in, and it sounds like they’re buying (or have bought) into BK’s style/system.

Another guy I’ve been high on since he signed was Goodman. Really looking for him to break out this year.

I’m not really worried about the OL with the young guys we have on roster and now having a coach like Brent Myers who’s really good at his job. As for the DL, I think the DEs will be pretty good. I think they will get the DTs sorted out over the summer. As long as they’re serviceable then we will be good enough on the back end that I think the D could be better this year than it was last year.

I think DT is going to be a big summer portal focus for this team

As always, thanks for the write up Brint to give us Griz fans outside of Missoula and Montana a little bit of insight into spring ball.

In the RB run, Gillman will be the elite runner he is and Hashim Jones will be a great compliment. However, don't forget about Dylan Paine. He could surprise some people.

I'm with you Brint, Sage Salopek should be a standout this year. He jumped off the screen when I watched his Hudl film this past year. I also like Colton Lentz and the Beaner Brothers.

I'm also optimistic Bridges and the other WRs will put in the work during the rest of spring camp and in the offseason on jugs machines, practicing tightly contested catches, working with Ah Yat to build trust, watching film with the intent to start, and talking to Coach Price and Coach Pease and other coaches on where they need to improve. The last part of the previous position could be for every player at every position.

As you say, it all starts up front with the DL and OL. I think we all know where we stand with DL and are optimistic the young bucks on the OL will bow out and show out. They've been in the program long enough to get them prepped physically and mentally. Now is the time for them to step up and take the bull by the horns and break down the door and make a statement that says "I demand to play Oline."

We also have transfers coming in that could/should break down the door and make a statement. Jack D'Ambra is one I'm looking forward to see how he does.

DOLA

It's the work the Griz do in the offseason starting at 6am on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday that will make the difference during the season.

Yeah we can thank the prior regime for the lack of size and depth on the D line. SMH
