LadyGriz LG vs NAU

Why don't the LG have at least 3 players crashing the offensive boards?

It's something that's been very noticeable all year and especially evident at the end of the year. Just now the announcer mentioned it after the wing to the side the ball bounced to ran back to the defensive side of the court as fast as they could with out crashing the board.

And why isn't the shooter crashing the board?

I was taught to always follow your shot and the opposite guard/wing would fall back on defense to stop the ball. Instead the LG have all five players sprinting back to play defense even when the opposing team isn't pushing the ball up the court in transition.

Against the NAU half court zone, the LG need to flood the zone to one side. Most half court zones are designed to guard the width of the floor. If the offense shifts four or five players to one side with the proper spacing and finding the spaces in the zone, the offense will have more players than can be guarded.

Dribbling into trouble and then chucking up the ball hoping someone from your team can get to it is not acceptable

This is called overloading the zone.

LG win the game. One of Nate's assistants needs to be telling him and the team that they have two fouls to give at the end of the game.

Given the circumstances of this virus-bitten team, a ton of admiration for these kids to tough it out for the win. Jr. Kennedy Gillette and fr. Rae Ehrman had possibly their best games of the year and Mack Konig had a masterful effort (5 assists vs. 5 turnovers) against all-game full court pressure from NAU. Chaotic at times, but the kids battled all 40 minutes for this one.

Wow. A game they won without Waddington and bitten by the flu bug. Very admirable win for the Lady Griz. Of course I wasn't able to watch it or follow the live stats for this game so I know the real reason they won. I may not be able to follow tomorrow's game either so they may have a chance against MSU.
Looks like Konig, Gillette, and Ehrman played very well.

Heard they had some sick girls, I ough time to have it, especially when it’s arguably your best player, but very happy for them to gut it out!

You really owe it to them to not watch/follow next game. Since it’s vs the lady bobs, maybe hide out in a bunker?

Love the hustle and grit of this team. Problem is, they lack talent—and next year lose their best player and Top 100 recruit.

I’d give Nate one more year. But he needs a great recruiting class. Actually, several. The talent deficit is obvious.

From what few details reporting crew disclosed, illness sounded more like food borne illness than flu, and if so 24-48 hours to recover not impossible given team's youth and robust health. Ever hopeful! Land played first half and was out sick second half, Konig with foul trouble- that last quarter everyone stepped up, including Konig playing a composed game carrying 4 fouls. Fingers crossed no one else gets sick, that Land clears it quick and we have our full force tomorrow. Let's hope we see a fissure or two in the Cats' prowess tomorrow. Go Griz!

Well, just about everyone last year thought that too going against the cats. You never know. Though I agree it does feel destined for the cats to demolish everyone in their path at the tournament and win a game in the dance. You don’t put up back to back 25+ win seasons by accident.
