Sac to the Mac

What a California response there. At some point those tax payers want to see a ROI or they push to stop having their dollars go to frivolous things like this. Students the same. Most appear to be going to Sac for an education as opposed to the athletics experience judging by your ticket sales. Are Western Michigan and Ohio University going to change that???

You also have 23 universities in the California University System, and the largest of those were running huge deficits in their athletic departments for years in the FBS in a power 5 conference. You guys going to the MAC with no support from that conference is nothing like Cal/Standord or USC/UCLA running to the ACC or B1G where they got big $$$.
You severely underestimate the frivolous expenditures of the CA state government and the care (or lack thereof) in which he voting populace has towards them. I assure you, tens of millions a year on Hornet FBS football isn't even a drop in the bucket compared to the tens of billions squandered on illegals.

Glad you mentioned the other CSU's as options to avoid the student fees to support our FBS venture. There are multiple regional options within the CSU for those students that have no desire to support FBS athletics. Those students are welcome to entertain those options if they so choose.

Say that to the Chargers formerly of San Diego who had multiple stadium funding requests voted down.

It's not the PAC like Dr. Wood wanted but he delivered on FBS status. All the haters can line up for their serving of crow. As I said in one of the other numerous Sac to FBS threads you guys started, markets matter and Dr. Wood leveraged that and the West Coast time slot for a MAC invite. Some universities have visionary leadership, while others do not.

At least you all can continue to enjoy your home tilts against Central Washington, Oklahoma Panhandle State and the other directional JV schools as you take L after L from your big brothers in Bozeman...assuming they don't get a move up call as well. At least you will have Utah Tech and Southern Utah to keep company in conference play.

Enjoy life in the JV ranks in perpetuity.
Holy shit your deal with the devil looks worse and worse. First, you guys were the laughing stock of the nation by people that know a lot more than you or me because of such a bad deal. Now even the consulting firm who did the economic impact study have spoken out and said Wood is an idiot and is wrong with his understanding and extrapolation of the $$. Like way way way off. Could this look any worse for you guys?

It can always be worse.

Yeah still playing in a lower level of college football, where your supposed leaders of the program hope that in 5-6 years FCS and G5 merge. Even then, Judging from the A.D's at Montana Grizzlies current comments they still won't be ready to make the move..kinda sad actually.

Yeah you could be locked into a lowered level of football, some might even say JV. Football with no plan in the future to get out other than hope the P4 makes their own super conference and g6 and some FCS teams merge together even than Montana will probably still be left behind.. kinda sad really.😂

Do you think Montana should move up? The program is currently excelling in FCS. Moving to FBS without having a thoughtful plan could ruin the program.

I disagree with those saying Montana would be shut out of getting into a new G6 level of football.
It will still come down to Money and MSU and Montana offer a lot more than many of the teams moving up or planning to.

I don't think what MSU/UM have to offer is the only variable. Timing and how much the existing teams want to split the pie. I think sitting and waiting could be a negative.

Yes, absolutly.. Now the question is when?.

If Bodnar, Hauck and Haslem werent working on a plan for the future for U. of Montana on possibly moving up to FBS. at least 2-3 years ago that's inexcusable on their behalf..

If U.of. Montana, with a new school President coming in plus a shakey situation at best at head coach, is only now starting to think about moving up to FBS, their screwed..

But none of what you said is accurate. You are just making up nonsense.

Montana had been staying on top of moving up for two decades. One of the reason UM kept upgrading facilities was to be able to take advantage of opportunities that might arise in the future. Everyone in the knows seems to be that staying at the FCS level is exactly what UM should be doing now.

The head coach situation isn't shaky at all.

Guess what when the MWC commisioner, Gloria Nevarez talked too Dom Izzo of WDAY-TV Fargo ND she specifically said after they added U.of Northern Illinois they only had one more team they were interested in expanding with and that was NDSU.. they are done looking for more teams for right now...

If Montanas' football coaching situation isn't shaky right now, tell me right now who your coach is going to be in two years from now?..

If Haslam is so confident in Kennedy why didn't he sign him to a contract as head coach longer than one year..

You are so full of bs..

Hope that's the case, is their a master plan for moving up to include WA Griz upgrade. Is their a fundraising campaign. While football is main attraction, all facilities all looked at, the softball facility currently has no bathrooms, the women's soccer locker room should be condemned by the city and is shared with the public.

The biggest hurdle is the BOR capping revenue sharing at 1.5 mil, in the MWC 1.5 is just the basketball revenue sharing, football is between 2-4 million. UM and MSU need to band together and make a case for increased funding.

The next move up is expected to be between 2027-2030 when new TV media contracts are redone. Last interview Haslam did about few weeks ago, he plan is to wait for the FBS/Group of 5 to split off and then invite FCS teams.

Not sure why you think that if UM moves to FBS that the revenue sharing cap wouldn't be adjusted. Seems like complaining just to complain.

Guess what UM doesn’t want to move up right now because the decision makers are not clueless like you. The coaching situation at UM is solid. We have a coach who wants to finish his career at UM. MSU has a coach that has been trying to leave the Cats for multiple years in a row and has failed to secure a higher level job. I think Vigen is done in Bozeman after this season and MSU’s coaching situation is a lot shakier. The only way BK isn’t coaching the Griz in 2 years is if the next 2 seasons go horribly wrong. See our qb compared to other FCS QBs. The Griz will probably have the best qb in FCS the next 2 seasons. Not exactly the formula for the team having losing records.

I know for fact that the MWC talked with representatives from the Montana schools.
