Joining the Mountain West would run an $8MM - $9MM annual deficit - can we overcome that?

Not sure anything you mentioned is actual leverage for them with the rest of the BSC.
ESPN isn't giving us a deal for Northern Colorado vs Portland State, don't know how much it's worth but it's something. Doesn't hurt to try and put our foot down and demand more of what we deserve and have earned by being the face of the Conference.

Like I said, no leverage. UM says they want more and the other schools say "or what". There is no answer for the "or what". Zero leverage.

That is the issue. We should be looking what we leverage against BSC. Join the Missouri Valley, go fcs independent, or go fbs. What is our path forward. Staying fcs is slow death and loss of revulances in football outside the state of montana. Teams that are putting the money we have into the program are looking to move up. Why are we putting money into the program? So we can say we have the best facilities in the fcs. We already have that.
Maybe we should have MSU jump up and we stay in fcs. They seem to want more then just fcs titles. Not satisfied with status quo.
I have lots of respect to programs that want to grow and be better. Ndsu, sac st, James Madison, liberty, sam Houston , goergia southern, coastal Carolina, app st, tarelton st and Texas St. We could easily have been one of them but noooo. We have to win 10 plus games a year. We are afraid of stiffer competition. All I hear is excuses and more excuses. A real leader dont use excuses not to grow. They use excuses as something do defeat and overcome.
All the non move up group want 10 win seasons and a chance to win a natty against programs that trying to catch up to us in facilities. Once they get near us they will move up too.

We need to tell the BSC to pound sand on this and demand a bigger slice of the pie along with MSU and even Idaho. We're the top brands of the Conference, we should be getting more in general right now and shouldn't have to be a charity case for the other teams, or share in jersey patches equally.
Agree it’s six months away has anybody in the AD dept mentioned jersey patches sponsorships

Bill Foley who owns the Golden Knights hockey team is worth 2.5 billion. His grandson was on the Griz football team and some of his other grandchildren went to UM. There are people with money in Montana.
Has Rock Creek Cattle Co golf course as well. Amazing place. First time I played it I couldn’t figure out why the clubhouse had all this Knights gear. :ROFLMAO:

There are lots of rich people in MT, but they aren’t Griz fans.

I know his grandson because I know people who have played for the Griz recently unlike you. Anyone on this site can call him up. He is part of your army of realtors. Not a bad gig in Whitefish where the average sales price is over $1.1m. As far as Bill Foley the athletic department would be better to reach out. He also owns Whitefish Resort which would likely grow if UM grew in popularity with out of state students so he has a financial reason to invest in moving up.
I represented the outside board of directors of what is now Whitefish Mountain when Foley bought controlling interest in the company. I don't know him, but was on at least one conference call with him. Various Griz fans/supporters know Foley, at least a bit. I assume who wouldn't be interested in big support for a move up, but at least it's an idea.

As I said his family member was on the Griz football team. Nike COO at the time’s son was also on the team. Another one of my friends that played for the Griz dad was a professional hockey coach for teams like the Canucks.

Yes, I saw what you said, but that doesn't mean Bill Foley is a Griz fan. I doubt that Eric Sprunk wants to put up big bucks for moving up.

One Griz teammate of these guy’s dad is one of the most successful financial advisors in Portland. He was the top producer at Morgan Stanley’s Portland office. Another one’s dad was a vp of marketing and sales for a $67m annual revenue company and a third’s dad was owner of a successful company. Those 3 were just one position group at a period of time. There are families with money connected to the program. I don’t know if they want to fund moving up or other aspects of the program but it could be a good place to look for funding.

They wouldn’t have enough money to fund the program. And why would they want to? I assume they aren’t even Griz fans.

All of their sons had positive impactful experiences from being in the program and are fairly successful themselves partially due to playing football at Montana. All 3 were walk ons. One led the Big Sky in scoring and was all conference, another got an opportunity with his home town NFL team. The financial advisor isn’t a billionaire but his net worth is somewhere in the 9 figures.
