Coaching movement

No, RG said we had only 3 on roster 250 or over. That's what and all I addressed. I didn't address those other things. Neither you nor RG can count. I'm still not addressing the size issue. Guys will put on weight in offseason. I assume some of the very young guys could be good. There are several available scholarships for more guys, including big guys. BK has said that the D will use the players they have to maximize their abilities.
Fair enough on the count for 2026, you've got 9 at 250+. But that's still not what RobGriz was really asking. His point was about having 300+ lb 1-techs and 280-290 lb 3-techs specifically. Nobody on that DL is at 300+, and 'guys will put on weight in the offseason' isn't exactly a ringing endorsement of where the roster stands right now. You won the counting argument. The size argument is still very much open

I'm fine with that. Again, I'm not addressing the bigger issue. I'm fine with letting the coaches address that.

How many of the DL being mentioned in this thread do you know? How many of next year's D players do you know?

And there it is. When the roster argument runs dry, back to the connections. No I don't know them personally, neither do most people on this board including you. But you don't need to know a player personally to read a roster and notice nobody on the DL is over 287 lbs. That's not insider knowledge, that's just gogriz.com. Before you respond with the same recycled line of "Ask Brint or someone else" just save your time and move on.

msu starting senior DT’s Brott and Eckert were listed at 300 and 285. Their backups were 285 or less with the exception of a RS Frosh who played 4 games and is listed at 305. Coincidently, the Griz lost the recruiting battle for that kid…he’s not listed as an engineering major so I wonder if the 3-3-5 scheme or Bobby’s “this is a special place to play” recruiting demeanor played into his decision to go to Bozeman.

Thats a valid point.

I am hoping they move Keim to DT and he can put on some good weight to get to least 280. That would help if it’s possible and he’s willing.
We do a weekly Class AA Player of the Week on my ESPN show. We also do Offensive & Defensive Players of the Year for AA. Isaac Keim was our AA Defensive MVP his senior year at Glacier. Kid was a total stud. I polled all 16 head coaches and he got top 3 votes from every single one.

Always thought he'd made a hell of a 3-tech.

Would not shock me if we look to the portal over the next few months to see if there are any guys without homes that could come in and help with the transition.
Just not sure with how the one portal opening what is the left quality or quantity wise. It’s clear now who is available to the coaches in that area. I just don’t think that summer additions are going to be like they were the past few years.

If you don’t have a base defense, you don’t have a defense. If you want information on what defense he ran at eastern WATCH A GAME. They are all on YouTube.
And what on earth would lead you to believe that he will play “multiple” and “more aggressively” than he did at Eastern?
A good DC will call plays to emphasize the teams strengths and hide weaknesses. If the Defensive personnel are undersized on average, I would venture a guess the DC will be doing a lot of blitzing and stunts. If you stay in the base and you're small, big O-lines will win every time. But yeah, you gotta have a solid base D first to be able to stunt out of.

Why wouldn't be getting transfers late in spring work? I know the Portal wouldn't be available to facilitate identification and transfer. But after the school year, a player could look around if he wanted to put in the effort. UM could "advertise". "UM looking for giant DL guys. Scholarships available."

Only thing I can think that would be a consideration is the 105 player roster limits after opting into the House settlement. 107 on GoGriz roster now. Some may be fitting the grandfathered in category but I have no idea who or how many. Anyone else know?

There are tons of guys who didn't find a home, including a bunch of guys who thought they were FBS material who are not. We can still land those guys, and I think we should try. Some guys are probably gonna quit our team after spring, too, just like they used to before the transfer portal was a thing. It's not going to be like it was, but they can and probably will keep looking, especially if they plan on switching to more of a 4-man front.

Don’t disagree with that but judging off his past work that’s not where Sanders wants to be defensively

I’m not sure you will see the caliber that would have normally been with after spring ball portal. Pretty much what the teams are what they will be with this change so don’t expect a savior there is all I’m saying. I have low expectations for a transfer that can be an impact. We will see though.

I'm not sure where I've implied that we will, but that doesn't mean they're just going to give up and not try.

If they want to switch to a 4-man front (and all indications are that they do), they're gonna need a guy or two who can fit that role on the interior DL.

NOT impressed with the ex-bloody T****n defensive coaches hirings. The Bloody birds D was ass the last few years, and now those folks are here… nope, not real impressed. I hope I’m incorrect and the defense is a strength of the team, but I’m not optimistic at this point.

BK has said Griz have a few scholarships left, so there would be room under the 105 plus grandfathered walk-ons.

I thought there were around 10 “protected” roster spots beyond the 105, but if a “protected” players transfer out that spot is lost.
