Coaching movement

Where did you find information that says he ran a 4-2-5 defense with a classic read and react style at Eastern last year?

I'm thinking they will be multiple and play more aggressively than his squads did at Eastern.
I watched their games.
How about you pull up YouTube, search EWU football, watch some of the game footage and tell me what defensive front you think they predominantly ran.
Hint... It was a 4-2-5. And it was read and react.

If you don’t have a base defense, you don’t have a defense. If you want information on what defense he ran at eastern WATCH A GAME. They are all on YouTube.
And what on earth would lead you to believe that he will play “multiple” and “more aggressively” than he did at Eastern?

I watched a more of the EWU games and agree, EWU ran a 4-2-5 read and react.

It will be interesting to see what he chooses to run here

The personnel we have on defense are fit to play more aggressively and a 3-3-5.

What I heard is that Dan Ryan is staying but is being managed differently as in BK is going to be more hands off than Hauck in strength and conditioning. As far as Illinois State I doubt Matt Nicholson is coming back. He is not from Montana.
Nicholson should have been made an offer to stay back when he left. He is a rare type of strength coach that Montana was extremely fortunate to have. Dan Ryan is no where near Nicholson's level in any way. It was a huge downgrade for the Griz for sure. Nothing against Ryan, but Nicholson is what you want. . .or someone like him.

I just counted 9 on roster 250 and over. And Schwartz is listed at 248.
Actually pulled up the 2026 roster to check. For 2025 the count was 8 DL/DE players at 250 or above, not 9 and Schwartz was listed at 248, not 250, so he doesn't even make the cut. But more importantly, RobGriz's point wasn't just about who's over 250. It was about having true 1-tech and 3-tech bodies guys at 300+ and 280-290 and on that front he was dead right. The heaviest DL was Ramos at 287, who has since transferred out. So you were off on the count and missed the point entirely. Other than that, great stuff.

I said Schwartz was listed at 248. Can you not read? You responded to my short post. I said this. "And Schwartz is listed at 248."

It's 9. You can't even count.

And, in any event, my number is way closer than the other poster's 3 or whatever he said.

The count argument is a sideshow. RobGriz's point was about having the RIGHT bodies — 300+ lb 1-techs and 280-290 lb 3-techs — not just guys over 250. On that front the 2026 roster is still thin. Hanks and Bailey at 285 and 280 help, but there's still nobody at 300+ on the defensive line. So you can count to 9 all you want, it doesn't change the fact that the body type problem RobGriz identified is still largely there

Hanks will be at 290+ come fall.

No, RG said we had only 3 on roster 250 or over. That's what and all I addressed. I didn't address those other things. Neither you nor RG can count. I'm still not addressing the size issue. Guys will put on weight in offseason. I assume some of the very young guys could be good. There are several available scholarships for more guys, including big guys. BK has said that the D will use the players they have to maximize their abilities.
