SDSU to CUSA

My point is - I highly doubt the voters would approve of funding the move-up in perpetuity...

School districts are struggling to get local bonds passed...

It's probably a 70-30 issue against across the state.

But, start the petition in Missoula and see where it takes you.
Do you really think that’s a ballot issue? As if the voters have any say at this point in the state budget overall? The only thing voters have a say in is who is elected. Now, there is a hell of a lot of our counties with small populations that have voted in large agricultural players for decades. Many of those legislators have ties to MSU, some to UM. Some have local universities in the MUS who are affected by funding.

All I’m saying is the mentality has changed over the hill from the early 2000’s when UM was the main university having success and doing feasibility studies to move up. We also have nationally minded governor, senators and representatives who have stood by a platform that focuses on Montana being open for business and growth. National exposure isn’t easily gained, but the 2 universities could help do that and I would imagine, shortly we will see a push for that.

You make good points.

All I am saying is those voters will see it differently...and all of those nationally-minded folks will find themselves unelected.

I might be out to lunch on this topic, but I don't think this type of thing is on the minds of the electorate right now...

I don’t think you’re out to lunch. You make your own valid points. In such a state of flux a move may happen without state support, but with private equity support. Losing the asset from a state or university level seems like a crime for the future with only a short sighted gain. I’ll be interested to see how it plays out in Utah. A little bit different down there though with the state having interest in UU and BYU being a different private entity.
