Hauck to Illinois

If you have a Grubner type at nose, which it sounds like Illinois does, the 3-3-5 is a great defense. It's all about personnel. You have a short memory. A nose who stuffs the A gaps allows the rest of the defense to scrape anywhere on the field and it's very difficult for pulling guards to get out in space to block it effectively. Plus there are so many stunts that are used out of it to confuse blocking schemes.

He planned this shit all along. My issue isn't so much about Hauck leaving. It's that he's lying about it to try and save his legacy. Hauck is a great coach. But the truth is Hauck can't beat the Cats, can't win the Natty and can't get the Montana Grizzlies over the hump so he bailed on us in our time of greatest need while the Cats hoist the trophy. He thinks he can slink away and feed us bullshit so we don't notice it and judging by the people here on their knees defending him he's probably right.

Losing to the Cat's lately seems to have messed with your logic. Cat's are national champs and the only team the Griz lost to. Hauck's legacy is impressive. Reminds me of the Buffalo bills losing 4 in a row. Bummer but damn! Going to the Super Bowl 4 times in a row is phenomenal. I'd still take that resume.
 
The UM/Hauck contract provides for liquidated damages, but doesn't say who will pay it. Just says the University "shall receiver" it. It doesn't say Hauck will pay or caused to be paid the liquidated damages. Poorly written contract. Also, I assume that liquidated damages generally don't have to be paid; they just are a way to avoid a lawsuit. I assume a coach, under that language, could not pay liquidated damages (assuming they applied) and say that there weren't any damages. What "damages" has UM incurred? "The parties acknowledge that the University will incur administrative, recruiting, resettlement and other costs in obtaining a replacement coach in addition to potentially increased compensation costs and loss of ticket, broadcast or other revenues, which damages are impossible to determine with certainty and accordingly agree to this liquidated damages provision." I suppose resettlement of BK might be a cost. I assume BK won't get more or much more comp, but, of course, don't know.

Bobby is 2-7 since he came back. no other coach keeps his job for losing to the Cats 7 times. The Cats are National champs largely in part because Bobby allowed them to grow into a powerhouse using Montana born talent which Hauck famously has been unable to recruit.
 
Good payday for Bobby. I figured his phone was ringing during the press conference with Haslam. Where the truth lies is unknown. As a alum and Griz fan, I still feel violated. I gotta get off eGriz for a while, and save whats left of my sanity. Maybe its too late.

It's just simply that it does not bother me as it so obviously does you and most of the rest on here taking your position that you've been done wrong.

Sure they do. No coach at this level gets fired only for doing that. And, he gets a break for his first few years, when he was putting the pieces back together. You don't know how coaches are evaluated.

I'm not saying you have to win every year but surely after 14 years and 151 wins at least one of those might have been in the National Championship. Vigen has had a extremely similar start to his career but the difference is I see Scheels full of Cats national championship shirts right now.

And lest not forget, your new head coach is going to just coach. The organizational CEO type duties are going to be handled by Jimmy.

Tough read into what I was intending there, but I am questioning whether it was labeled he was retiring and then Bobby just rolled that way because he was staying in the flow and not trying to get anyone riled up.

I have no idea who called it that first, maybe it was him, but that would surprise me.

I also agreed at the time when he said Jimmy told him he looked at peace, it seemed like his face was just tensed up all year long and that day he looked 5 years younger than he has all year to me.

Really no diff at this point in time, looks like a good role at any rate. Incidentally, Bobby has a great resume of experience, to include the "D" side of things, for example UW Huskies!!!
