Wilkinson transferring

5280:

It sounds very arbitrary to require a team/college to spend any amount of money. Do you know what this requirement is based on?

This, in the grand scheme of things , seems to violate the original intent of NIL. I would think that the NCAA and the powers that be, should have listened to Coach Saban ( and others) to institute a “ salary cap”.

It’s starting to look like MLB which is destroying itself…
Perhaps so fans of AAC teams don’t have the experience that Colorado Rockies fans are having with their team spending comparably significantly less than peers to tie it in to the MLB.

What is your opinion on Eddie Debartolo and the 1994 49ers?

I need to research that. In what context do I need to start?
A lot of people claim he as the 49ers owner was responsible for creating the salary cap by paying his players more than everyone else and that 1994 team was the last best team money could buy as it was the first year with a salary cap. They had one year player rentals like prime time Sanders.

Hahaha I know, right!? Its like jumping off a cliff, down, going to UAB. Hell, they tried getting rid of their program! Its literally no step, its like cliff jumping. Free fall. No parachute. Ahhhhhhhhh!!!
Montana dominates UAB in Sagarin over just the past 10 year period..."consistently stronger than UAB in pure power rating terms."

Griz probably beat the snot out of UAB...most years. He's gonna lose ALOT.

Zero chance he's consuming much NIL...but, Birmingham is a pretty nice city. So there's that...

Again, wish him well.

He is a great fan. He knows the program as well as anybody outside the staff. The Griz are well above great.
This idea that people who support the program and athletes, even if we don't win a championship in the exact timeliness that everyone wants, are somehow "bad fans" might be the most deranged twisted thought ive ever heard of in sports and "fandom". ESPECIALLY, for college sports.

And we all know who is leading the charge on this insanity. The great podster click man himself.

No, Mountain Brook, Homewood, and Vestavia Hills are nice. Birmingham is ass.

I laugh every time someone references a FBS school as a step down.
If you look at the rankings of all college football teams regardless of division, you see that the best FCS teams outrank the worst FBS teams. UAB is ranked 120 out of 136 FBS teams. I would say they would be ranked below MSU, ISU, UM, 'Nova, UC Davis, South Dakota, Tarleton State, and a few other FCS playoff teams. So yes, UAB is a step down in football quality from the Griz.

fan is short for fanatic.

Definition of fanatic:
  1. A person marked or motivated by an extreme, unreasoning enthusiasm, as for a cause.
  2. A person affected by excessive enthusiasm, particularly on religious subjects; one who indulges wild and extravagant notions of religion.
  3. A person who is zealously enthusiastic for some cause, especially in religion.
So you are correct. Hoops is a great fan but not great for Griz football.

I loved that Hauck came back in 2018 because we needed to get back to our Griz roots. Now, I think this season should be the deciding factor on Coach Hauck's future as head coach of the Griz. Let's see where this goes.

Conversely, this idea that fans expecting to win a championship at LEAST once a generation are “bad fans” for expecting more out of the program is equally deranged.

The weak fans are those who trash a 13-2 season. I recall no one opposing a championship at least once a generation.

Great for Griz football. Supports the team. Your quote applies to religion and certainly not me.

When it comes to how fun it is to play there, most group of 5 schools are a step down from Montana. There are probably even a few power 4 schools that are a step down from Montana in this area.

I would argue if they played 10 times with equal home/away, at best for the Griz it would 5-5. So step down...no, step up...maybe, status quo...quite possible.
