Mountain West?

Lawsuit still out there. And not about what schools they wanted, about the extortion fees for schools leaving and MW anti competitive contract with pac 2
Cool, thx. I still wonder why the PAC would care if the MWC added FCS programs at this point. It was originally over the penalties MWC was going to levy on schools leaving for the PAC, right? Maybe I misread that and I’m missing an angle. I guess if I have a potential judgment against someone, I’m all for them improving their finances in ways unrelated to the lawsuit.

Elord and I were chatting about the 1982 BSC earlier today. I’m not sure how old you are, UR, but my fondest memories of Griz football and the BSC were the mid to late ‘80’s. The weekly battles with Nevada, Boise State, Idaho, etc. Those games were so competitive and fun to watch. The old pass happy BSC. The burgeoning Griz certainly didn’t win every game, didn’t go undefeated or win the conference every year.

Perhaps not a popular opinion but I would trade those days in a slugfest competitive conference for 10+ game winning seasons with opponents that you are ashamed to tell your friends about.
I think it would be fun. I am just saying the fan base that whine about 13-2 would spend the season in a death spiral when the Griz go 6-6.

No partials in FBS either, you have to off full ride unless the kid is a walk on.
Not sure this is accurate any longer. I think under the recent settlement, FBS scholarships have changed from headcount to equivalency. So FBS schools don't have to offer a full 105 scholarships to fill a full roster.

That’s pretty cool. Thx for that info.

Makes sense.

Pac didn't care if mw added FCS. It was mw that didn't want to add FCS....
And the pac suit was over the unfair terms of the agreement and the exit fees.

I don't think the MWC opens the door to the FCS schools unless UNLV leaves. They leveraged the MWC to give them a larger share instead of helping the FCS financially transition.
Yea. NO way the MWC takes in 4 FCS schools in one add. UC Davis will be added in football in 2028. Maybe one or two more but 4 more above UC DAVIS? fantasyland thinking. New Mexico State and a few other FFBS schools are available as well as Tarelton is in Texas.

Yes, I understand what the PAC claim and MWC claim are both about. Neither centers on the MWC adding FCS programs. Which is why I don’t think the moratorium on the MWC adding new members would present a huge barrier if they wished to do so. That was my original point.

Wouldn’t be a bad conference if they added the 4 along with Davis and kicked N Illinois out. Other than shorter travel for the XDSU’s, N Illinois doesn’t seem like a good fit geographically.

I don't particularly like N. Illinois either but I would think flying in/out of Chicago as a major hub would make travel a hell of a lot easier than a lot of other locations...

As much whining as goes on here it will be interesting going to the Mountain West where realistic success would be 7-5 or 6-6 and a birth in some obscure bowl. And there could be a half empty WaGriz on a Friday night game. I’m not saying I’m 100% against it but those will be the realities of it. Home games vs new rivals like Wyoming, Utah St and Colorado State would be great fun though.
I thought Colorado State, Utah State and other "states" were joining the PAC.
