I honestly don’t either1. Are we required to offer more or just permitted to?
2. Are additional scholarships true money OOP, or just on paper?
I honestly don’t know these answers.

You don’t have to but you probably should if you wanna be competitive1. Are we required to offer more or just permitted to?

16 sport minimum so we’d have to add two sports. So scholarships for those, coaches salaries, etc. plus in the MWC there’d be way less bus trips so travel expenses are gonna increase!Got it. Thanks. So, not required. What are some required expenses?
I for one think making the move on a shoestring budget does sound like the way to go.Got it. Thanks. So, not required. What are some required expenses?
Fo sho, just trying to get an idea of what’s absolutely required versus what we’d want.I for one think making the move on a shoestring budget does sound like the way to go.
Both Utah St and CSU are leaving the MWC for the new PAC.As much whining as goes on here it will be interesting going to the Mountain West where realistic success would be 7-5 or 6-6 and a birth in some obscure bowl. And there could be a half empty WaGriz on a Friday night game. I’m not saying I’m 100% against it but those will be the realities of it. Home games vs new rivals like Wyoming, Utah St and Colorado State would be great fun though.

I believe I read it (chipper) was 2.4Move up threads and fire Bobby threads are the two thread topics discussed ad nauseum on this board and have never changed a single persons opinion, lol.
I happen to see an article recently about people wanting Wyoming to drop down to FCS. I think the article has some inaccurate statements especially about the Montana Schools, so take it what you will, but there is some interesting information for both sides of the argument.
This quote is from Wyoming's AD - "Right now, we’re getting $3.5 million in media dollars today"
So that quote can put to bed speculation on the MW's media package.
It also quotes the AD saying they got $1.7M for playing at Texas. So in theory, there is more money to get your ass kicked in the MW than if you are FCS.
There are also so dumb statements in the article. For example, saying Wyoming played on national TV 12 times this last year. They are counting services like the Big10 Network. So it is really 12 times? Montana played on ESPN2 twice, and ABC twice. How many Wyoming games were on ESPN, 2, or ABC? Point is I think top FCS schools get some decent national exposure these days.
But that said, the 2.8M viewers for the Super Brawl had to draw some attention. That is an amazing number. Highest rated FCS game of all time (don't know if the natty passed that).
Anyways, lets carry on the debate and change nobodies mind!
Same! Away games would be a lot more exciting in the MW.Hawaii away game? If I tell my wife about this long shot scenario she’ll start packing this weekend.
No partials in FBS either, you have to off full ride unless the kid is a walk on.1. Are we required to offer more or just permitted to?

Elord and I were chatting about the 1982 BSC earlier today. I’m not sure how old you are, UR, but my fondest memories of Griz football and the BSC were the mid to late ‘80’s. The weekly battles with Nevada, Boise State, Idaho, etc. Those games were so competitive and fun to watch. The old pass happy BSC. The burgeoning Griz certainly didn’t win every game, didn’t go undefeated or win the conference every year.As much whining as goes on here it will be interesting going to the Mountain West where realistic success would be 7-5 or 6-6 and a birth in some obscure bowl. Perhaps not a popular opinion but I would trade those days in a slugfest competitive conference for 10+ game winning seasons with opponents that you are ashamed to tell your friends about.
I think Suck State would have filed it if they thought they could win. No lawsuit, no win. Unless the MW is planning to take suck st, sac, uc davis and 2 mt's and DSU's.That is a belief stated by people, and I think that they are correct that the state budget isn't going to come up with millions to move up.
That being said, the Mountain West could have come up with some money in the past. When they sign a new TV deal they could carve out money to help teams move up.
A team like Montana could legally challenge the NCAA's fee to move up to the FBS. That is how I have always thought teams like us could move up, because we know the NCAA cannot win a case without the anti-trust exemption.
I am sure there could be other pathways.
I don't really want us to move up, but I acknowledge that others do and I am sure it is good that the University would explore all options.

Not to throw water on the flame, but ESPN+ is as nation wide as Big 10.Move up threads and fire Bobby threads are the two thread topics discussed ad nauseum on this board and have never changed a single persons opinion, lol.

Isn't there still a pending lawsuit between the pac and mw that puts all additions/subtractions on hold?
Lawsuit still out there. And not about what schools they wanted, about the extortion fees for schools leaving and MW anti competitive contract with pac 2Not sure. If so, I bet they could contract around the order. I doubt the PAC is really after the subject schools. If anything, the PAC might be like, “Totally, take the Montanas and the DSUs so you don’t take who we want.”![]()
