…rooting for the cats…

I root for the Griz 364 days a year in most years, 363 this year.
I used to because my lifelong best buddy was an avid cat fan. I brought him to many cat games in Missoula. He loved the Mo club and never had to buy a drink. He passed away a couple years ago and the ESG GCG chants have overwhelmed any positive feelings I once had for MSDUI. There are good Montanans and bad Montanans. Cats are the latter.

Trump derangement syndrome isn't a real thing... thats some stupid crap republicans just made up, per usual.
Lol. Not to get all political, but I have several siblings who’ve proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that TDS is definitely a real thing.

I'll just throw this out there, but there's going to be a whole lot of Cat fans that feel the same way when people call it MSdui. So as much as you see it as innocuous, the same way Cat fans see the chant the same way, there's alot that see it the opposite. And you can't fault people for seeing it either way. It is what it is.

As a Griz fan I will be rooting for Montana State in the Natty game. They are the best team to represent Montana
As a MT Griz fan that lived in Bozeman since 1998 I can tell you 1st hand the feeling is not mutual. They hate the Griz and would never ever root for them to win against anyone anytime. Maybe there were a few back in the Rob Ash years or a bit earlier but not many.

MSUDui is recent. 2023. Not years of the chant at every event that has nothing to do with the Griz. When I have people from out of state visit Bozeman and they ask why Cat fans do the chant at non Griz events I don’t know what to tell them except it’s some kind of trauma syndrome from the streak possibly. UT Martin fans were really confused at Spectators when they came to town. They thought maybe the Griz were in town for basketball or something. The rest of the sports world finds it strange.

I hate when I hear people say this. We need to all accept there are bad fans in each side od the rivalry. I've had bad experiences in Missoula. I know people have bad experiences in Bozeman. By and large over all 90% of people are polite.
I appreciate that and you’re probably right. I will also mention that I’ve gone to games in Bozeman and been treated great by cat fans. And usually when people point their shitty attitudes at me that’s fine. Point them at my wife and I’m gonna be the whole problem.

ESGGCG is endemic in their culture. Future scientists will have to use gene splicing to cull it from the species.

The Griz gave it the best they had in 2025 and lost to the Cats 2 times. I'm proud of what they accomplished. Their overall W - L record is outstanding. The Griz made major improvements from 2024. 2025 was an exciting year for fans.

I still stand by my statement above for this one time. The pinnacle for the Griz will come again shortly.

Little bro vibes. Just like busting the chant out at work events.

You're a better man than me, SoCal: I just can't root for MSU !

Referring to Montana State as MSDUI is deserved. It's not in the same league as ESG GCG at weddings with little kids and grannies around, Apples to oranges.

Man, the skin's a little thin over here. Sticks and stones dude. What happened to looking down your nose at little brother? Pull up those knickers & root for the Big Sky Conference to finally break the strangle hold on the natty by the MVC for the sake of Pete. And root for MT kids.
I'm not thin skinned at all. I am a fan of the Montana Grizzlies! So that is the only team I care about winning the national championship. It really makes zero difference what other team or conference wins it. I love the game of football, I coach the game of football, I watch and study the game and attend Glazier clinics almost every year, sometimes twice a year. At my parent/player meeting every year I discuss heavily the importance of being a representative of our program and displaying excellence in sportsmanship to both players and parents along with respect to officials and other coaches. I have done the same for wrestling every year.
So I guess my question should be, when your 20+ thousand men, weman and children were chanting eat shit Grizzlies, is that directed at the Montana fan base, the Montana coaches, or those student athletes busting their ass for your entertainment and amusement, or all the above. I get the rivalry, and the hostility to a point, but I don't get how an entire fan base as a whole can tell another program to eat shit. Nobody will ever respect you no matter how dominant your program is. If you were to walk into any establishment in the state, or country for that matter, and start telling them to eat shit, what do you think their response will be? Respect? Admiration? Or a broken nose and a toss out the door?
Fan bases are extremely important for the future of football. There is a shortage of quality coaches and quality officials in this country, and less and less parents/youth choosing to participate for many reasons. Disrespectful fan bases will not help that trend. Again, congratulations on your teams success, but have some respect. Ya'll owe it to yourselves.

I've never seen MSdui anywhere but Egriz. Certainly never got much media coverage Griz fans didn't chant it at any weddings last summer.

Go back to "Circle Jerk ESGGCG" Nation and you and your whole lot of Cat fans can contemplate the obvious similarities between yellow and gold.

I know a couple Cat players and their parents. All good people. I hope they do well. I have other Cat friends that are good natured about the whole thing and our banter is fun. I had fun in Bozeman and just about everyone I was around were fine and not too obnoxious. So will I root for them? Probably golf claps for the Cats. They are very good and ultimately if I do or don’t root for them from my recliner doesn’t matter.
Good team, very bad fans. Go Redbirds

I am so sick of the "Repping the State of Montana" fake bandwagon fans. I would happily smash my testicles with a ten pound sledge hammer for an eternity before I ever rooted for the State. I don't engage them on social media bc they are all trogs, transplants, senile or starting into senility. I hope the Puds get destroyed.

I don't think Illinois is going to win tonight, but I am going to sacrifice my chicken wings by throwing them into our bonfire tonight and pray to the football gods the entire team gets sick from bad BBQ.

I won't be watching that game unless I check the score and see they are losing, then I will watch and savor every moment of it.
