Amick hitting the portal

Andy shmit must be proud. Publicly thrashing our players im sure helped a ton in retaining Colin here.

Based on his assessment, this is no big deal, we were horrible on the o line, so anyone who had meaningful snaps this season should be gone. AmIRiGht here? đŸ˜”â€đŸ’«
Yeah you’re right, it’s absolutely Schmidt’s fault:rolleyes:

The amount of delusional cope with some of you guys is actually embarrassing.

I’m sure it’s not because offensive line is one of the highest paid positions in NIL and the FBS programs have more money than Montana. Not to mention his offensive line coach here is leaving.

If people think the OL sucks, then who cares about losing some? We'll do better in the Portal. There is NIL and the Portal, but there aren't anymore slots for starting OL in FBS and at FBS schools that pay big NIL. One would think good players wanting to get on the field would be looking at the Montana's of the world, as they have already been doing in recent years.

Tell that to the cats
Your portal class being poor isn’t a big deal when your team is primarily built on players you have had and developed over a few years out of high school. They get pieces to fill in the team from the portal like Lamson instead of getting the majority of their starters as transfers. I am not saying which strategy is better overall but the development strategy does seem to have better odds of having elite teams multiple years in a row.

The reality of playing in the championship win or lose is your portal class will be poor for the following season based on the timing.
That is an interesting dichotomy.

They, who are successful in a team/system are going to be sought after because of their association with a “great “ team
?

I am.

Its blatantly obvious one strategy results in more sustained success and national championships at the FCS level and it’s not ours.

It’s not even a debate at this point.

I don’t think Bobby woke up one day and decided to build his entire defense in the portal. It’s not so much a “strategy” as it is a necessity when some players leave and some don’t pan out (whether a recruiting failure or a development failure or injuries). It certainly can be effective when utilized properly
I mean he did win 13 games this year and made it to the semi’s
the question remains whether he’ll EVER get over the hump with it
and with the best players now departing via the portal (something we haven’t really had to deal with much), it’s gonna become even MORE of a necessity to hit 5-6 home runs in who he brings in
and that’s a big ask.

This is wrong. There are plenty of spots that transfers can compete for in FBS.

Made it to semifinals, not quarters.

Good point!

Good point!
It actually isn’t a good point at all. Just because it’s not the best greatest unit overall doesn’t mean losing it’s most promising young player isn’t a big loss.

Losses like this put a huge demand on hitting it out of the park with your portal additions and leave less margin for recruiting misses.

The excuses and rationalizations from a segment of this fanbase have become sad.

How are we ever supposed to improve if we can’t honestly acknowledge even the smallest deficiencies?

This “everything’s fine, nothing to see here, move along now” mentality is a major impediment to progress.

We acknowledge deficiencies all the time, but idiots like you don't even know what the deficiencies are, tear down the coaches and team, don't contribute to the Griz, and start saying fire the coach, fire the coordinators, replace the 2 lines, replace the strength coach, get rid of the top supporters of the Griz, etc. You are pathetic and incredibly stupid about football and basketball. You were a privileged kid, who almost took down your family with wasting all their money. Get back to your steroids.
