FCS Championship Game prediction

I looked at the total points scored of both teams and total points allowed.

Here is the breakdown:

Total Points Scored:
Illinois State - 489 with an average of 30.6, high of 46 and low of 3.
MSU - 571 with an average of 38.1, high of 66 and a low of 13.

Total Points Allowed:
Illinois State - 402 with an average of 25.1, high of 40 and a low of 2.
MSU - 270 with an average of 18.0, high of 59 and a low of 0.0.

ISU has scored 30 or more points in 10 of their 16 games.

MSU has scored 30 or more points in 11of 15 games.

ISU has given up 20 or more points in 8 of 16 games.

MSU has given up 30 or more points in 2 of 15 games.

I have not yet taken the time to calculate the Total Yards per game, Passing Yards, rushing yards and turnovers.

I have not come to a conclusion on which team I believe will win.

At this point I think the team that wins will need to score at least 28 points.

I would be interested in seeing others predictions.

I am retired so in the next few days I’ll have time to add more statistics of both teams.

My son sent me a link to a YouTube program entitled “The FCS Checkdown.”

After listening to the guys on that program I think that Illinois State wins.

This is the first time I’ve seen and or heard about “The FCS Checkdown” and it am not certain of their knowledge of both teams.

They did make some compelling points/statements that has me thinking that it will be the Redbirds that come out on top.

I may have also been swayed when the guy on screen left stated that if the Griz played the cats again, the Griz would certainly win the game.

Imagine if what should have happened, happened, and we were meeting the cats in the chipper on a neutral field. THAT would have been epic.

I have the same thoughts about the outcome of this game as the Montana or Stephen F Austin games against the cats. Both teams are balanced offenses with the capability of beating the bobcats. But the odds of each of those teams winning is about 35% would be the guess.
The Stephen F Austin offensive line was the biggest and scariest of the three. The cats did have some problems with their push up front. But I am assuming a similar style from ISU. The bobcats will most likely win this in a late push like they usually do.

The stats say MSU should win big. They are allowing far less points especially if you remove the Oregon game and compare points allowed to FCS opponents the difference is even more stark. My eyes and emotions from watching Illinois State says they should win because they are peaking at the right time and are a lot bigger in the trenches. The stats suggest otherwise though that Montana State will win this one and it won’t be close.

The moment was too big for the Cats last season. This season the team will have the routine down pat. Most of the team experienced the loss last season. Despite the undefeated record going into the game last season, this year's msu team is better. Their quarterback can complete a forward pass...that helps.

Cats win by two possessions.
