Most coaches at any level of football would take 5.8 ypc. for the game in a heart beat..

I think the house is on fire in one (maybe 2) glaring areas. Recruiting of Montana kids in all athletics and university wide for general student body.
A 2nd category could be the strength and conditioning program. We need more out the significant investment of the champions center. I have not seen an overwhelming improvement in the development of our football team in overpowering our opponent.

I think we also need to prioritize getting linemen out of the portal that have developed at other schools. In the first Hauck era we had a lot of elite guys transfer in up front. Most of our guys besides Hunter Peck in the trenches were not transfers. He came from NAIA the guys I am talking about that we got during the Hauck 1.0 era came from the top of the FBS like Oklahoma and Oregon. Why are we not getting those guys anymore the second Hauck era?

I remain confident this is on the forefront of this staff's mind as well. It was an amazing season, but also a season not up to standard.

This is also something I pointed out to andy. His o lines included guys from power 4 schools. I absolutely agree with you here, but honestly? I dont see us getting those same dudes in today's portal / NIL world. They are so sought after, its tough. Doesnt mean we shouldn't try our damndest though!

How am I in the wrong? I never said our o line was dominant. I said they were definitely capable of winning a title. They didnt, but does not mean they couldn't have. Now the season is over, and the results are the results. Go improve. And the trenches is somewhere we need improvement.

Primarily because they’re getting 💰’s to sit the bench on FBS rosters.

Interesting how posters on here atribute the Griz loss to you and Jack. Somehow if you both would have bitched more it would have put the Griz over the top.

Yeah I was going to say Levi Horn didn’t play a single down at Oregon and JD Quinn played some at Oklahoma but he was kicked off the team for something not football related. Even if they are getting NIL money to sit on the bench they are not getting looks to play at the next level without game film. Why not try to go after some guys sitting on the bench at a top FBS school? Hauck does have a history of taking those types of players to the NFL.

You are confused with the term “rat poison” coined by the greatest college football coach of all time. You spew the exact garbage that Saban was specifically talking about. Continue to say how great we are and how wonderful everything is is not helpful at all. You and hoops are ego guys. It’s not negative to not want to be complacent.

The game has changed. Even backup OL at FBS schools are getting paid more than what most FCS schools can offer.

If you want to have a good OL/DL at the FCS level, by and large it has to come through HS recruiting. No other position group, outside of QB, is as sought after as good lineman in the transfer portal. I just don't think relying on transfers for those positions is a good year after year practice. Supplemental, sure. But if you're banking on finding good lineman in the transfer game because you haven't developed any from the HS recruits, I think you're going to be disappointed.

Totally agree. We have done that... the cal kid this year that didn'tplay much this season, Everett johnson also came from cal. The best in recent history was our center 2 years ago AJ Forbes & tackle Chris walker, both from Nebraska. None of which were as the same caliber as Quinn, horn etc. Only option for transfer back then was transfer down to fcs. Im not sure we get those dudes in the portal now. But again, doesnt mean we shouldn't try.
