To Nick and Jack

I am not providing the stats for total rushing. Everyone knows them. I provided the Cats' stats without the long rush, because that rush was not defended at all by the Griz. The Griz didn't line up anyone on the edge and had not safety in the vicinity. Just a total screw up. Gillman's rush was a damn good run and nothing was given to him.

I have nothing good to say about Schmidt. I have known of him for decades and first met him briefly in 2003 (when he and my nephew were teammates). Have continued to run across him on occasion. Schmidt has been opinionated and egotistical all that time. I didn't realize until recently how big of a jerk he is. Everyone around him apparently knows that. He has a hard-on for Bobby. Schmidt was mostly a bench warmer for the Griz. His sister is more acccomplished and went to Dartmouth. Played volleyball. Is an ER physician in the Seattle area. Schmidt went to about the worst law school in the US. I assume he couldn't get in anywhere else.

Look at the substance of what he says. He talks in platitudes. He has little or not substance in his views.
Schmidt has way more credibility with former players and the program. You are nothing other than an 80-year-old who gets spanked on podcasts.

Nope, I don't. I acknowledge the real deificicencies frequently and ahead of most people. But I don't buy clueless and unkknoweldeable general comments that have no bearing on reality. Without one long run where the Griz D completely lined up in the wrong formation and gave Jones the whole side of the field, he averaged 5.8. Yes, more for the game. Yes, a big run. But not matter what you say, he averaged 5.8 on his other runs. I feel sorry for all the kids you coached. You must have been a terrible coach.
In addition, if you take out all the flukey plays where MSU did better than UM, then UM wins by 23. The coaches, who are better than what MSU has, have all assured me that UM has better players than what MSU has. They all told me it's a shame that UM doesn't get to play MSU again, they told me they finally got the defensive scheme to shut down MSU.

Finally getting around to posting about this thread... all things considered, it's still obvious andy shmit is low T and miserable in life, and thought his shitty attitude towards the griz mid season was somehow helpful. Some on here enabled him by saying stupid things such as "hes just willing to say the things that are needed to be said". How on earth was this helpful mid season? Not one gawdamn bit. Now he's gloating because his negativity came to fruition. A very sad state to be in in life.

Now that season is over, I'll be putting a thread together of things our team, our university as a whole, and athletics dept can improve on. The losses to the cats ripped my heart out, but not as much as those on the field. As an alum, passionate fan, and booster, there are concerns, and improvement to be made. I remain confident this is on the forefront of this staff's mind as well. It was an amazing season, but also a season not up to standard.

Success is not final and failure is not fatal, it's the courage to continue that counts. Mr Churchill said it best. 💪💪

Just curious, but how was it detrimental?

Some of you, who know little or nothing about football or Griz football, are like Maga followers. Clueless and looking for a conspiracy or something dumb to follow. People like Schmidt can easily lead you because you are so clueless, and he has credibility because he sat on the bench for some good Griz teams. I think it's funny how little you know about football and Griz football. Let's fire the coach who guided the team to 13-2. Great idea.
Hoops what do you suggest are fixes to get over the top? Yes, at first glance 13-2 is spectacular….however, when you dissect the season closely it is not good enough. Obviously something has to change and so I am interested in what your thoughts are. Thanks

I'm not a big negativity guy. Its rat poison for almost everything in life. It wasnt fact this season the things our team he was critical about weren't capable of winning a national title. We could've won both the games we lost. We didnt, thats competition, and now we must analyze what needs to be done to improve. Its not like we're a professional sports franchise that can bring in a new lineman via free agency. Our squad was what it was, and enthusiasm, mementum and support are far more favorable than negativity. ESPECIALLY while we were undefeated.

This shall not be confused with "sticking your head in the sand" as, of course, Andy Shmit basically says. There is always a time and place where reflection and introspection, and improvement always needs to be addressed. Even if we had won the natty This would be the case.

Or put a different way, how is it helpful mid-season?

This is also fair. I think in general more people need to do this in life. Its the best true accountability factor in capitalism.

We're not there yet as a family, I had too damn much this season. My kids had a blast, my wife and I had a blast, sucks we couldn't go to Nashville as planned, but weve got a loaded calendar as it is so life will move forward (quickly).
Yep I think what gets lost is the amount of time and money that people invest in attending these games, not to mention emotional investment. Especially this fan base, as passionate as it is. If something doesn’t change then I think it’s more than fair for people to question the level in which they continue to support. Doesn’t make them bad fans either.

So it wasn't.

And here is the reality. With declining enrollment and getting crushed overall by msu in that regard, it is going to more and more challenging to fill the stadium. A declining alumni base is declining football attendance.

The sad part is, we have zero reason to be lagging in enrollment. Missoula rocks, our school is a great school, and msu and bozeman have challenges and issues that aren't the same here. I.e. cost of living, for 1.

Anyone who wants the Griz to lose so that he can say I Told You So, is not a real Griz fan. That's Schmidt.
No one wants the Griz to lose. Be real.
