NC- Check List, SDSU, USD, MSU

Dont Kick 2 Bergen

Well-known member
We already knocked off SDSU like I knew we would although I thought it would have been closer. I am not looking past USD but I think we win that game at home. USD had trouble with SDSU and won a close game. MSU had trouble with SDSU and lost at home in a close game.

Our game against SDASU wasn't close. We are as close to being healthy as we have been all year for this coming week against SD and the way the defense is playing I don't see the Coyotes scoring more than 24 against us.

If MSU somehow gets by SFA and we play again I want to make this point.

It is not possible for Lamson to play any better than he did in Missoula, where the cats needed a tipped pass and a score by their defense to get it done when their offense couldn't. It is very possible that AY Yat plays way better because he will once again be the best QB on the field in Bozeman. We are getting on a roll at the right time of the year. I like our chances in Bozeman, playing on the road should make a team more focused.

I don't see a path to victory for South Dakota.

I've watched a little of USD this year and have noticed a couple things we can exploit:

USD’s front is stout inside, but their outside contain can be stressed easily by using jet sweeps, outside zone runs, and Wortham in motion to pull linebackers laterally and create cutback lanes for Eli Gillman.

USD linebackers bite hard on run fits.
We can use Ah Yat’s quick reads to hit intermediate routes behind the second level

Use RB wheel routes and TE option routes to isolate linebackers who are better downhill than in space.

USD thrives when they can substitute and disguise pressures.
We could go Nascar (no huddle) and use multiple formations (empty sets, bunch) to prevent defensive adjustments and exploit mismatches.

Lastly, Their DB's haven't had a ton of experience outside of this year and we can win any matchup on the outside.

This is setting up to be a fun run!

Good input.

I don’t see how the Griz lose this next one. I also don’t see the Cats losing to SFA at home. The Griz/Cat rematch could be interesting. The Cats will be nervous. They know they played a dang perfect game in Missoula and got some breaks. They also know that Davis had a hard discussion with Vigen yesterday. It was brief and Vigen was very direct. Do you want to transfer to WSU and follow me? I can give you x amount of $$’s more in NIL money. The two then hugged and Davis will play every snap of the playoffs. Team unity be damned.

I would like to see any mention of a Cat-Griz rematch scrubbed from this board. This is how you lose games in a playoff: Looking past your opponent. It's true during the regular season but it's even more true in playoffs, when every team is dang good or they wouldn't made it this far in the first place.

Exhibit A: North Dakota Sate-Northern Illinois.

As in life: Carpe Diem.

Absolutely need to shut down their run game(Phillips Jr. specifically) and make them one dimensional. Bouman didn’t have to do much because Mercer was so outclassed (How did they go toe to toe with Davis?). Make no mistake he is fully capable of putting up yards and will definitely exploit some of the holes in our defense (over 9000 yards passing in his career). He’s mobile and they use him in the +1 game occasionally. They use the TE like we do as a defacto FB/extra lineman, but will use them regularly in the pass game. They like a lot of those short and intermediate routes to move the ball. They will look to run off our corners and safeties to clear it underneath.

406 gets it, their LB core plays the run well but no so great in coverage IMO. We have multiple guys that can advantage of this. I also think with the exception of one cornerback they have there is a lack of overall team speed on defense. Lots of teams get the corner on them. I think they are in for a very long day on defense and if they get behind I am not sure they have the offense to play catch up

Except we are fans…as much as I would like to, I will not be suiting up for any of the matches and I have zero outcome on the game. Drinking beer and talking shit is my part….lets go!!

Understood. But I'm a fan too. Nervous about a game? We generally do well. No nerves? No butterflies? Oppponent is a piece of cake? Looking ahead to a Cat rematch?
UH-OH!
Just sayin'.

Maybe you should read better and comprehend. I clearly posted I am not looking ahead its all about USD this week. Then I preceded to make a point about the state school

yes confirm he nailed it with his post...set it in stone for future generations so they can read
it with such intellect and knowledge of the game...

Technically we actually avg 10-11 more points/game on the road. So playing on the road is in our favor. LFG!!!!!

This South Dakota team is formidable. They have some serious dudes on both sides of the ball. The great news for us…..they are going to have to bring their A+ game to beat us in Missoula. Even then, it might not be enough if we’re on our game. I told my old man that I thought it was reckless not taking a knee at the end of the SDSU game. I’ve changed my mind. Slamming in another TD and allowing our defense to shut the door sends a message. I trust Bobby’s judgement. This tells me that he has no intention to take his foot off the gas until this season is over come hell or high water. I think this team is focused on kicking the next team’s ass. Period. We’ll talk about the semis when we get there. I would highly recommend the Bobcats do the same or they’ll be watching Stephen F Austin play the next one. Go Griz and beware to anyone that wants a piece of our football team.

I see the Grizz winning as well as the Cats this wkd, the cats get the win in the second brawl, and then take out UC Davis in the national championship
