NC- Check List, SDSU, USD, MSU

We already knocked off SDSU like I knew we would although I thought it would have been closer. I am not looking past USD but I think we win that game at home. USD had trouble with SDSU and won a close game. MSU had trouble with SDSU and lost at home in a close game.

Our game against SDASU wasn't close. We are as close to being healthy as we have been all year for this coming week against SD and the way the defense is playing I don't see the Coyotes scoring more than 24 against us.

If MSU somehow gets by SFA and we play again I want to make this point.

It is not possible for Lamson to play any better than he did in Missoula, where the cats needed a tipped pass and a score by their defense to get it done when their offense couldn't. It is very possible that AY Yat plays way better because he will once again be the best QB on the field in Bozeman. We are getting on a roll at the right time of the year. I like our chances in Bozeman, playing on the road should make a team more focused.
Bobcat offense not getting it done in cat-griz at Wash-Griz stadium 11/22? What are you talking about?
After Gilman TD run, Bobcats held the ball the last 6:50 of the game, going 72 yards in 14 plays, controlling the ball, and grabbing the win. Griz defense could NOT stop Bobcats and get the ball back. And, on the prior Bobcat drive in 4th Qtr, after Crews blocked the Griz field goal attempt, bobcats drove 65 yards in 9 plays to go up 31-21. Seems like Bobcat offense sure got it done in 4th quarter (and in first half). 3rd quarter Griz took 2nd half kickoff and dominated Cats with the long 9-minute TD drive to take the lead.

The Cats "got it done" on tipped pick 6 TD, a blocked FG by a kicker who has been replaced, and a questionable call on a longer TD run. Yes, and those 2 drives. But you don't judge a game or an offense by 2 drives. You need to look at the whole game.

I don't see a path to victory for South Dakota.

I've watched a little of USD this year and have noticed a couple things we can exploit:

USD’s front is stout inside, but their outside contain can be stressed easily by using jet sweeps, outside zone runs, and Wortham in motion to pull linebackers laterally and create cutback lanes for Eli Gillman.

USD linebackers bite hard on run fits.
We can use Ah Yat’s quick reads to hit intermediate routes behind the second level

Use RB wheel routes and TE option routes to isolate linebackers who are better downhill than in space.

USD thrives when they can substitute and disguise pressures.
We could go Nascar (no huddle) and use multiple formations (empty sets, bunch) to prevent defensive adjustments and exploit mismatches.

Lastly, Their DB's haven't had a ton of experience outside of this year and we can win any matchup on the outside.

This is setting up to be a fun run!
Excellent analysis and I was hoping you would have given some insight into today's game.

I appreciate that! Sometimes I get lucky. Ha. To me these are the best 2 teams remaining. I’m not as confident in saying there isn’t a path to victory for the cats, but I do think they are facing a much different and more potent Griz Offense. A lot of people mention loud being back and how much he changes the coverage scheme and dynamic (I agree) but the biggest thing is he is a really good tackler with good instincts. Haven’t seen him get beat on the edge much. Only thing that worries me a little is Jones in the passing game, he’s a huge threat there in my opinion. It’s not easy to win over there but I like our chances to do some things and settle in. However, I do think we win this game.
