Well for starters, Gilman never had a TD run called back like you said. That was Brooks Davis.
The minor tap on the shoulder is funny, I'll give you credit for that. Funny enough though, the actual reason that Paul Brott didn't tackle Gilman on his TD run is because while Gilman was stiff arming him, he actually grabbed his facemask and pulled it down. If you've ever played and had that happen to you, you know that changes your momentum completely. That TD actually should have been called back, so you're half right.
MSU's defensive line didn't rack up a lot of stats as a whole because teams gameplanned to the get ball out quick against us. You might have noticed that even the Griz did that. Almost all Ah Yat did was throw the ball to the perimeter quickly, almost never tried a deep pass because anytime they went beyond 2-3 seconds in the pocket he was under pressure. You'll notice that UM threw for what, under 6 yards per attempt? That's an offense getting the ball out quick, and no player is getting a sack that fast. Otherwise, Brott plugs gaps and allows the LB's to get tackles. He's a very good player, even if it doesn't show up on the box score. You don't have to believe me, I really don't care, but darn near every single coach of an opposing team has mentioned him pre and post game as being an impact player. I think they probably know better than both of us.
