Ouch. LG starters only 9 of 40 on fg's.

LG playing a tough OOC schedule so I'll be curious to see how they do once in Conference.

It felt like there was a lid on the rim today. Just one of those fluky games where nothing goes in. Excited for conference play as well.

The LG have been blown out in 4 of their last 5 games: Oregon, Washington, SDSU and now Utah. I know it's Nate's first year and he needs time. I do hope he looks to increase the speed and athleticism of the team next year by recruiting both some high school talent and transfer-portal kids from some nearby big cities ( Seattle-Tacoma, SF-Oakland-Bay Area, LA) just like Travis and Bobby because this year's team as evidenced by our nonconference schedule to date is probably not going to be competitive outside of The Big Sky Conference !!!

I can’t imagine being competitive outside of the big Sky conference was a part of Nate’s plan year 1. We really won’t know how these games shaped our team until March… but our non-conference schedule is gauntlet. I prefer this approach (& how soccer does it) compared to a cupcake non conference schedule.

In regards to recruiting, I agree - time will tell.

Here is the stat sheet: https://gogriz.com/sports/womens-basketball/stats/2025/utah/boxscore/6335
The shooting was overall terrible, (FG's% in the teens, as were 3's, Konig 1-12 FG) and watching many of the shots were not that pressured. If the offense strategy is the 4-5 out to get the 3's, and that's not happening, and O rebounds/2nd chances aren't happening, there needs to be a change up? Granted preseason was up against the buzzsaw/big schools, Utah has a solid team, conf hopefully better...the shots have to fall, one way or another! Post game Nate, communicates more or less it's on him, agree with the strategy part of that. But this is not high school, players have to perform, have to guard/pass/bound/shoot...that's on them ,in my opinion no coach has power over bad shooting.

They are shooting 34% from the floor and 29% from 3. Only 20 FG per game. They shoot great from FT, but when you dont attack the basket to draw foul and score you dont shoot many.

Fluky?
Drove to the basket over and over the second half.

Missoulian has a great story former UM players now assistants at Utah. The article. "Former UM star coaches Utah past Lady Griz", a Missoulian mistake, I guess. Not to take anything away from the return of Jordy Sullivan's return to Dalhberg, a remarkable player, and I'm certain a great contributor to her Utah team. But she is an assistant, not the head coach, so who "coaches Utah past " the LG is head coach Gavin Peterson, a 20 yr veteran Div 1 coach. I'm certain Jordy is learning much under this coaches experience. I can imagine Jordy eventually becoming a head coach somewhere, and potentially a good one! For anyone's curiosity Utah went up against formidable Uconn, Utah stats were comparable to ours/LG against Utah: https://utahutes.com/sports/womens-basketball/stats/2025-26/uconn/boxscore/24118
