Vigen just landed in Portland… best thing for the Griz?

I really cannot disagree with your take, but ponder this. Why would Vigen jeopardize an already challenging start with OSU? He is moving on for bigger dollars and a move to FBS as a head coach. We all love Montana sports and the FCS. It is simply a stepping stone job for the Nevada’s, UNLV’s, CSU’s of the world.
Agree with you on Vigen's part. Vigen would only be making a difficult job even harder. I guess I was more commenting on what Costello might be thinking and that tough choice he might have to make, if Vigen is offered the OSU job.

Here's what I'm hoping.... 1) The Griz go into Bozeman in the semis and dish out some payback and beat the Cats to go to Nashville, 2) Vigen accepts the Oregon State job, and 3) Montana goes to Corvallis next fall and beats the newly-led Vigen Oregon State squad haha.

But in all seriousness, Vigen is a very good coach and for all the making fun of him that Griz fans seem to do (which I don't understand), he's done incredible work in his tenure at MSU. I kinda have enjoyed him being their head coach and it honestly gives Montana something to push itself to be better.

As much as I hate that the Cats are having the success that they are having, it has made this rivalry actually good, and it's exactly what this program needs to keep us progressing to be better than them and the Dakotas.
He is an excellent coach.

Points to remember about Coach Vigen:

1.He's had one head coaching job, and he took over a winning program--not top of the heap, but arguably headed in the right direction, more W's than L's during Choad The Toad's last year. He deserves credit for further strengthening MSU--their '21 team was primarily Choate's team but the '24 team was Coach Vigen's. And his decision to replace McKay with TM heading into the '21 playoffs was pretty fricking brilliant. !!!

2. The Oregon State football program is a " deep in the toliet, turn- around- program, currently @ 2-9.

3. Oregon State, at 2-9, is in first place in The PAC-12--I am not making that up.--because one of their two wins was a squeaker over WAZZU whom the Beavs play for a second time on Nov. 29, which points out another problem: The Pac-12 is currently a joke and when all of the Mountain West schools join next year, Boise State and San Diego State will likely dominate.

4. The PAC-12 is no longer a Power 5 Conference--there will still be only 4 after the MW teams join next year.--and that's likely to remain status quo for many years. I don’t think The PAC will become a power conference for the foreseeable future.

So if Coach Vigen can turn The Beavers around, great kudos to him because Corvallis in 2025 is not Bozeman in 2021, where MSU needed a tune-up not a new engine like OSU needs in a defacto new FBS conference.

I could really give a shit about Vigen. I do hope it throws his players for a loop. I know coaches can move on, but to interview right before the playoffs begin, is classless. For any coach. It sends a shitty message about commitment.
Worse for MSU would be speculation about players jumping in the portal to follow him to Oregon State.
I would be curious to know that the buyout langauge is in Vigen's contract.

Right?? Eck has been fantastic for that program. I hope he can sustain it.
He's already a name for multiple jobs out west:

OSU, CAL, CSU

He may be on the way out already, also side note Polasek has also been mentioned for the same jobs Vigen has as well.

In regards to Vigen going to OSU, garunteed he will take both Dowlers, Lamson and maybe even Brott (if he has eligibility) etc.

And he'll lose a lot with that level of talent.
