No it isn’t. First downs are not yards divided by 10. The EWU QB didn’t have 45 passing first downs against Griz. Nor is 65 yards 20 more plays. You really aren’t that stupid, are you?

MSU
215 attempts for 727 yards and 3.4 yards per carry
UM
210 attempts for 721 yards and 3.4 yards per carry
Interesting to note than only one of these defenses played the #1 rushing offense in the Big Sky, too.

I didn’t say make up your own stats and methodology. But I was fine with what you did, except you apparently goofed up your stats. What should should have done was provided accurate stats.
And I suggested new methodologies. Can Cat fans not take teasing?
How much data do you need?
Jesus that's a ridiculous assertion. PSU got 75 yards on ONE play against our 2's and 3's. Hows that play into your theory?

Or you could look at it as 650 yards of total offense. Does it make a difference? I would say it makes a big difference. But the griz defense has essentially made most teams throw the ball to beat them and it has worked out in their favor so I suppose the results speak for themselves. Will it work on playoff caliber teams? We are about to find out.
I think it's worth noting that the cats have allowed only 3 TD in their 727 rushing yards given up while the griz gave up 13 TD on their 721 yards given up. This does make sense, since the griz give up over 100 more yds per game passing and ~13 more pts per game than the cats.
Might also be interesting to note that 9 of the 13 came against teams the cats didn't play.
Yea if you're implying to look at stats of only the teams both teams have played, I don't think that would look good for the griz.
Well, we're talking about rushing defense, so why not?
Against Idaho State, Weber, Cal Poly, and EWU:
UM
103 attempts for 329 yards (3.2 avg ypc) and 4 TDs (3 of which came against ISU)
MSU
103 attempts for 347 yards (3.4 avg ypc) and 1 TD

Rush D is pretty much dead even no matter how you slice it. I really think this is by design with the griz scheme. They are making teams throw the ball to win and so far it's bend not break in the pass defense. It's a very smart scheme IMHO.

Yes, I agree. Two things can be true:
The Griz pass defense has shown weaknesses at times, and teams feel like they can exploit it, so they throw a lot, and the run defense has been quietly excellent and has forced teams to abandon the run game at times.
I still think that if you could distill the Brawl down to one thing, it would be whether Montana can stop MSU on the ground.
If we can, we will win. If we can't, we'll probably lose.
Oddly, this season, the Griz average victory margin is +25.7 when the opposing QB(s) attempt less than 40 passes, but only +7.7 when it's higher than 40.
I just don't see this bobcat team beating us if they are passing the ball 40+ times.
