Message to Bobby

No it seemed the ones all game. That was my point. Why did the #1 offense do nothing after the opening 2nd half drive?

I'm not knowledgeable but it seems the #1 Griz's offensive performance may have led to some of the defensive struggles.

Who's in charge of onside kick coverage? How do Griz rank in onside recoveries that past few years?
The onside kick was a missed assignment. It was also a pretty damn perfect onside kick. I thought the biggest mistake the coaching staff made was the fake punt. The Griz had what 4th and 5 or 6 at the 38? And you run a fake with a defensive lineman running the ball? I believe EWU had used all their timeouts because the Griz had only taken :20 seconds off the clock on that possession. Punt that sucker and pin them back with the North Endzone in their ear and no timeouts. Bobby has called some fake punts that have paid off over the years but that was a mistake in my opinion.

Are you thinking of the game in 2012?

Peter Nguyen and Jordan Canada both fumbled inside the red zone, with Nguyen's coming inside the 2 or 3.

That was also the game Brandon Kaufman scored twice in the final 2 minutes to rip our hearts out.
Could be. I try not to remember much from that year 😆 5-6 and so many close losses. Let one slip away at app state. That was the year of SSWH I believe, where Delaney inexplicably played him over McKinney.

Good question in first para. Yes, on second para. A player is assigned to cover that particular onside kick, and he didn't do the assignment. Have no knowledge on UM onside kick recoveries. I would guess fine, but not great.
They may lead the country in failed recoveries the past 6 or 8 years. #3 Davis recovered 2 in a row vs. Sac. I was amazed. Two in a row may be a team record under Bobby 2.0.

It's not fine, or great or even decent.

Does Bobby call the fake punts or does he give the coaching to the team to call fake punts based on what the opponent's punt return team is showing and it's up to the team to call it correctly and execute when it's called? Think back to Ty Morrison's fake punt throw to Ian Finch for a 4th down conversion.

What are the rules on On Side Kicks. Are there any. I see Rausch about to catch the ball and gets blocked out by a EWU guy. Rausch's hands are looking for an interference call, but no.
Ball had already hit ground so no interference. That’s how that play is designed. Some on kick team go block out return team from getting to ball not even trying to get the ball themselves and they are notresponsible for the actual recovery others are after our hands team gets knocked away. Side note, they first attempted a kick left that Bobby called time out to see only to have them switch it up and out school him. The kick to left would not have been successful. Davis has done a great job fielding the kicks left this year. 2 for 2 in one game. The stupid fake punt was the worst special team decision in that game situation since. Bobby ran the Globe of Death kick return his first time around.

You can go way back and look at box scores on GoGriz.com. The box score includes every play. Peter Nguyen fumbled on third and goal from the five yard line. The fumble was forced by eighth year senior Ronnie Hamlin.

The ball can hit the ground once and the receiver can still call fair catch which of course entitles him to catch the ball without interference but more than once, in this case a dribbler cannot be fair caught. I am pretty darn sure the receivers are taught to go get the ball once it is touched but instead waited for the ball to come to them which of course is an f-up.

Kellen Detrick was a running back when he was a Blue Pony at Havre and a damn good one too!
