No. 45, a DT, for SS is an asshole, dirty player and should get his ass kicked

My point exactly. They are trying to take this kind of hit out of the game. Launching to initiate forceable contact is dangerous for both players involved. The league will review the hit and render judgment. It should be called targeting by rule but it is the Big Sigh so probably not.
For the record, with where he hit KAY, I think if 45 keeps his feet on the ground - it’d be fine and not look nearly as bad.

Then again if he keeps his feet on the ground and drives through instead of leaping up and at KAY like he did, it’s an even later hit.

A defenseless player is defined as "one who because of their physical position and focus of concentration is especially vulnerable to injury."
The NCAA rulebook adds that "When in question, a player is defenseless."
I did not think it was targeting initially. Ah Yat’s focus was apparently not a factor in the refs decision and it should have been. Did he see the defender coming? Maybe in his peripheral vision, but based on the reaction to that violent hit, I don’t think so. A strong case could be made for targeting. It was definitely a PI.

Either dementia has fully set in with PR or he knows exactly who AT is and you just got trolled.
Some took the bait. I knew Andy when he played for Griz. Switched from qb to LB and was first team all-conference senior year. Ya, I goofed up where he is now. It’s worse than dementia. It’s called old age. But I got everything else right in my many posts. Much better batting average than Dodgers.

Isn’t that the same? Don’t think there is a penalty called late hit? Let us know. Thx.
I don’t think there is an official rule. I think it still falls under the category of “personal foul” - it’s just the description of the personal foul penalty - ie Personal Foul, number 45, late hit out of bounds or personal foul, unnecessary roughness, etc.

I think sometimes what makes it confusing is the refs just call the description of the penalty, instead of the actual Penalty-description.

I was surprised when the Griz player layed out the Sac quarterback a few plays later and wasn't called for the same penalty.
Griz player targeted quite a bit lower and if I remember correctly, didn’t launch himself up and at the Sac qb (who was a pretty decent runner - surprised they didn’t have him take off a lot quicker if there was nothing there earlier in the game like they had him doing later).

What a terrible late hit on No. 8. Late. No reason. High. Dirty. Threw his shoulder into the high hit. Andy Thompson needs to stop the dirty play by SS. There is no reason or excuse for that hit. Dirty, dirty, dirty.
Waslolyesni.

Don’t be doing my Dodgers dirty like that, Hoops. They got DRILLED last night. Woof….
