Listen to it lazy assWhat did he say?
The gist of what was said is that Bobby and his staff have become lazy recruiters and have taken a step backward in their ability to develop their players. They no longer recruit in state kids at the same level that they did before when Schmidt was there. They routinely whiff on in state players, fail to identify and recruit and develop in state talent and would rather go portaling hoping for players who have already been coached up. They routinely lose Griz legacy players to the cats. Another argument that they make is that the models of recruiting and player development at MSU and UM have swapped. In the early 2000s to around 2010 ish UM was a program that got the best in state talent and developed it while MSU looked to get transfers and missed on the best in state talent. They make the argument that now MSU gets the best in state talent and know how to identify and develop it, while UMs staff can’t develop talent and has to go portaling to get the dudes it needs, and will be hot and cold as a result, with some years looking like last year while MSU routinely makes deep playoff runs. They also make the argument that this is part of a greater trend at the UM where we basically suck ass at recruiting students period. That pretty well sums it up.What did he say?
Not once has anyone said don't recruit out of state. There is a battle for the best players in montana and the griz are/have been losing it. Theres no reason all of these all conference players from the state of montana are all coming out of bozeman state. We should have recruited a local running back Montana kid and coached him up instead of recruiting Eli Gilman out of Minnesota.
That's how ridiculous of a statement that is. I don't care if we recruit in state more than the Cats. I care about getting good players, and if a kid is from out of state, he is now a "Montanan".
There's a reason why we don't put the state kids are from on the front of their jersey. It says "Montana", not "Hawaii".
Not intereted enough to listen. On way to family wedding. When I post stuff, unusual post a summary. HomeGrown’s summary is enough for me. I don’t agree with Schmidt much of the time, but like him. I don’t like people who went to Bozeman high. Ha.Listen to it lazy ass
Who are MSU’s all-conference players from MT this year? Not once has anyone said don't recruit out of state. There is a battle for the best players in montana and the griz are/have been losing it. It is not 2005 anymore. What did he say?

You have to choose, though. With limited scholarships, and spots on the depth chart, they have to make a choice. Do they want an RB from Sentinal or Eli Gilman more? Do they want a QB from Helena more, or Ah Yat? This isn't as binary as some are making it. The Griz recruiting footprint is getting broader, yes. I think that is a good thing. Not once has anyone said don't recruit out of state. There is a battle for the best players in montana and the griz are/have been losing it. Theres no reason all of these all conference players from the state of montana are all coming out of bozeman state.
I think you’re missing the point of my post. Not once has anyone said don't recruit out of state. There is a battle for the best players in montana and the griz are/have been losing it. Theres no reason all of these all conference players from the state of montana are all coming out of bozeman state.
I believe there were 8 all conference players on the Cats last year from Montana (including Rylan Ortt who's father played for UM) and one on the Griz, Junior Bergen. The statement that there is not top talent in this state is incorrect. If the Griz go after these top in state kids and lose the recruiting battle that is one thing but the argument was made that they are not even pursing many of the top in state football players. This is in direct contrast to Bobby 1.0 who got 80% of the top in state players. Not intereted enough to listen. On way to family wedding. When I post stuff, unusual post a summary. Who are MSU’s all-conference players from MT this year?
Who are MSU’s starters from MT?
I was paraphrasing what others said. Can’t say I disagree, but I was paraphrasing for mthoops since he asked. Are you a descendant of Chicken Little?
I didn't ask just based on your paraphrasing.I was paraphrasing what others said. Can’t say I disagree, but I was paraphrasing for mthoops since he asked.
