The Only Stat You Need...

If the day of the week is what drives things, and the opponent is irrelevant, and winning is the main reason people show up, we should definitely go the Globetrotter/Savannah Banana route. The Bananas sold more tickets for their exhibition at Angel Stadium than the Angels did all season.

Given what I’m learning about fans’ expectations and parameters, I’m not even 100% joking. An FCS championship crowns what, the 50th best CFB team? Just play exhibitions and cash in!
And there'd be no bunting.

Double bonus!!

Whoever monetizes this idea for football will be filthy rich. Banana ball makes baseball barely watchable and look at its popularity. Do this with football and the owner will be printing money.

Haven’t we seen that with the original XFL? Though some ingenuity like the sky cam came out of it, it wasn’t sustainable. Given the popularity of the NFL they already print money. There’s no minor league system d/t college athletics which is how they like it. No competition on Sundays.

We’ve seen showball before on the minors decades ago. It’s a pendulum swing. It will lose its flash and uniqueness as others mimic it and people will return to the roots. As short as people’s attention span is anymore it’s hard to see anything holding it for too long anymore. The shine and luster always wears off.

The MAC is not "up".

Why do people (and I know you don't really qualify AZ) think Montana would be at that level? The defeatism is remarkable to me, particularly for people from the state of Montana and with the success our program has had.
Pretty simple really. MAC is FBS and Montana is FCS. No matter how you cut it, that is "up".

Seriously. Make some rules like mandatory go for two in the second half, graduated point values for FG distance, "lucky fan calls plays for a series", etc. Opponents don't matter. Holy Cross, Sacred Heart, Incarnate Word, Immaculate Taint, Satan's Ballsack, whatever! We'd win almost every game (vital for attendance), play only on Saturdays so people can make it (vital for attendance), and gain much more national recognition ($$$$).

OR

Who we play kinda matters, and maybe we should be mindful of who those teams will be in the near future.

I agree with everything you said, but the XFL was trying to be an NFL-style product. Banana ball is not in any way trying to be serious. I also agree that these things come and go ala Harlem Globetrotters and the Savannah Bananas (they will flame out too...) but not before someone makes a truckload of money.

It blows my mind how few seem to understand this.
