Herder's Ballot for 10/6

I don't see SDSU dropping if they lose to NDSU. it just means #2 wasn't as good as #1.
I think from a balanced perspective and a seeding discussion, SDSU falls out of a top 2 seed if they lose to NDSU. If by the end of the season you have an undefeated NDSU, undefeated Montana, undefeated Tarleton and a 1 loss South Dakota State and a three loss Montana State, you're likely looking at the seeding below. You could make a case potentially to swap SDSU and Tarleton based on strength of schedule, but the pollsters are already high on Tarleton at this point of the season, regardless of their strength of schedule:

1 seed: North Dakota State (12-0)
2 seed: Montana (12-0)
3 seed: Tarleton State (12-0)
4 seed: South Dakota State (11-1)
5 seed: Montana State (9-3) or UND (9-3) or Southern Illinois (9-3) or Illinois State (9-3)

If it’s and buts were candy and nuts….How many times has Bobby had an undefeated team going into the playoffs between his two tenures? Let’s just see how the season plays out. Paying any attention to the media and coaches polls is pointless.

Next week the committee releases their first rankings which is worth discussing because they will actually make the decision on competitors in November, and we might glean a little insight into this new groups opinions.

This is assuming neither NDSU or SDSU lose to UND.

Here's an article out today on the playoff picture.

Again, the CAA is going to claim their unique "unbalanced" schedule should allow them more teams in the playoffs. Is there a difference, other than better teams on this side, between them and the Big Sky? Lots to argue about too with the OVC/BS, UAC and SLC.

I wouldn't disagree with you. I don't know if ACU or SFU and beat TSU. Well, I think ACU is totally capable of taking down Tarleton, and SFU not so much.

IF the Griz win out, they should definitely be the #2 seed. Stronger SOS over TSU. Regardless, I don't see the top four seeds changing much until the Griz-Cat game. If SDSU beats NDSU, you know they will jump everyone for the #1 seed.

What I know is that Tarleton hasn't played anyone outside of a horrid Army team this year, and they do NOT deserve to be ranked in the top 5. I would put any SoCon team, CAA team or Colonial Team ahead of them heck, even the Big South or OVC at this point.
