Props to North Dakota

I'm watching a replay of the game and on one of UND's plays they had two players blocking almost five yards downfield when the ball was thrown across the line of scrimmage. Unless they changed the rules this year and I'm unaware, offensive players can only block one yard downfield when the pass is thrown across the line of scrimmage. This is something I saw UND do in both the K-State and Portland State games. Referees have to start calling this on UND.
If I remember right, the TD right after Loud's stupid penalty there was a lineman at the goal line walking into the endzone as the ball was thrown. He even looked around to make sure there was no flag. Completely agree they need to call that on them.

I missed watching the game but listened to the radio broadcast. I watched the replay and was very surprised the Griz played as well as they did. UND was lucky they kept the score as close as they did. Lots of negativity on this board. Ah Yat is a great qb and will take this team a long ways. I'm very excited for the season.

Grizz are a solid team, and I would love to see a playoff rematch .... but there is a comment that surprised me a bit. UND was lucky to keep the score close? UND was leading the vast majority of the game AND left a ton of points on the field. All due respect to the Grizz and the WaGrizz faithful .... but in this specific scenario ... I'll say the Grizz were lucky UND made so many blunders. Missed XP, going for it on 4th before halftime (clearly don't trust the kicker, but should have given him a shot), TD called back. A few things go differently, and this isn't a UND win, it's a blowout.

That being said .... ifs and buts .... MT stuck with it and took care of business. Congrats! Best of luck in the Big Sky! Hope to see you guys again this year and certainly hope to see you guys on the scheduled in the future! Now I just hope UND can clean up a few things and make a run in the Valley.

I think you can safely ignore Mafia.

If we play UND in Wa Griz 5 times in the next five weeks Griz will by double digits each game. Its just the way it is. Wa Griz is a difficult place to win and almost impossible if the team dosent have clearly superior talent. UND has talent but its not clearly superior talent compared to Griz.

I agree the Griz were fortunate to win, but they won by completely outplaying UND in the 4th Q. Your QB is not accurate. The Griz left points on the field too, and the late taunting penalty was a BS call in my view, and gave you a TD. It works both ways. Making blunders is part of the game. If you make too many, you usually don't win. It's sort of like saying, if we don't make any mistakes, we'd beat you.

If we played UND 5 more times, they wouldn't have any players left. They had a number of injuries in the game, and may have lost guys for awhile.

On the radio call they made it sound like Loud was in the guys grill screaming at him. The replay was a small tilt of the head while running back to the field. It was a chicken shit call with big ramifications

except that in no football season ever will you play any team at home 5 times in a row. WaGriz is crazy tough, but that doesn't explain thinking UND got lucky. When you dominate a game for all but a few minutes ... its not generally considered luck.

but hats off the the Griz, they won. End of the day that's what matters.

For arguments sake, out of 8 home games last year, you had one throttling. next biggest point spread was a loss. Only one other game was by 2 TDs. 4 games were won by 11 or less (Missouri St, W. Carolina, NAU, Portland State-yikes), then there was a loss to Weber. The positive here is that if you played Weber or UC Davis 5 more times at home last season, you'd have won all of those games by double digits and you probably would increase your spread by playing Missouri state a few more times too.

Again, nobody is denying WaGrizz is a great stadium and a tough place to place. But in reference to the one "real" game that was actually played there this year .... lets leave luck out of the conversation. It was a great game, that UND dominated the majority of. We killed ourselves with some stupid stupid mistakes and the Griz capitalized on those errors. UND hardly got run out of the building.

This is a game that could be a fantastic rematch in the playoffs .... but we have a long way to go the rest of the season. Good luck with all those home games!

I generally agree with what you said, except I wouldn't agree with the word "dominated". You clearly were beating us and had the upper hand. As for the playoff, I"m hoping the the Griz continue to improve and that we'll be considerably better than UND than the playoffs. We have large upside if we can keep improving and learning to play together more, like better coordination and fewer mistakes by the D, better coordinating and less mistakes by the OL. And, your qb didn't show much against the Griz and wasn't not an accurate thorwe

You're probably right about the 4th quarter, but by that point I was at a kid's soccer game and my service was cutting out, so I didn't get to see the end (oh darn! haha). I wasn't even going to get into the reffing because it sounded like there was some crap calls both ways.

the long TD to our TE that got called back ... sounds like it was a terrible call ... but I wasn't there. Apparently Kory Tai was up on the line and the players called it out and had him move back a few yards ... ref was right there, saw him move back and called it anyway.

I try not to blame reffing because blown calls are part of the game. There are generally a handful that go both ways, those we always tend to pay more attention to the ones that hurt our respective teams. And a team needs to be able to overcome some of that to win.

For me, this came down to poor kicking, and switching up our defensive approach late (playing for prevent than pressure) .. same thing we did in Manhattan.

Best of luck this season!

I'll disagree with on the QB, but that may be more due to expectations. He has been far better this season than anyone expected. Though it sounds like he fell off later in the game. Sophomore who is just finally getting some playing time, plus adds a running dimension. Again, I didn't see the end of the game, so I can't speak to his accuracy late.

As for the "dominated" comment .. you are correct. It just seemed the most appropriate terms considering Mafia's double digit winning standard at WaGrizz. :)

I'm also hoping UND will be a much more cohesive team by the playoffs, but its hard to know what to make of them yet. Dominate two crappy teams at home. Lose two close ones on the road ... which certainly could have been wins ... but weren't. Personally, I don't think we will know much about UND until half way through the conference schedule. Though without beating K State or MT, it will make our games against SDSU and NDSU that much more important ... fortunately those are home games.

Good luck!

I know you said you missed watching the end of the game, but UND brought consistent pressure on nearly every snap of our final 2 drives. Although, funnily enough, the big sack that forced us to need a 4th and 12 conversion came on a play they only rushed 4, I believe lol.

Either way, they were not in a prevent defense, and in fact their aggressive nature and play calls were precisely why the double move to score a TD worked so well for us.

Good to know, I thought I had read differently, so appreciate the context. I'd have gone back and watched it but watching them blow it late on the ESPN play by play was enough for me. I didn't need to go back and see it again. haha.

Your QB was horribly inaccurate for most of the game. He was 17-40 and had several nice long passes, or 42.5%, some because he accurate and some because the Griz D lost the receiver. He must of just flat-out missed 10 or more open receivers, including one long early and the rest shorter. I see that he's 57% for the season and only 1 pick. He's a good runner and make. some good decisions in that regard. And I had talked of your qb only for the one game: "And, your qb didn't show much against the Griz and wasn't not an accurate thrower."

HA! 5-7 for UND maybe 6-6

K State awful
Portland State = D3
Montana = looked like a #20 ranked fcs team. (which isnt a complement)

Ill state, siu, ndsu, youngstown heck maybe usd (bouman could throw for 400+ on em)
Who’s this fuckin guy??? You’re that guy that can’t make the distinction between a S and a Z right?? Bison is not pronounced Bizon. Read a book and stay in school.

I, for one, would also love a playoff replay.

You guys take care of business at home and maybe it will be a game at WaGriz with the winner go to the chipper.
