Week 0 is in the books and it's great to finally have college football back again!

UPDATES:

• The UC Davis/Mercer game was deemed a "no-contest" game. As a result, this game will not be counted for this weekend's pick'em challenge.
• Thank you for your understanding with the week's picks locking on Gameday. This has made it much quicker for me to tally up scores and get the standings updated.

NEW:

• NEW PROCESS: When you submit your picks this week, the form now has a dropdown list with your user name already populated.
  • IF NEW PLAYER: enter your name into the textbox.
  • IF RETURNING PLAYER: select your name from the dropdown field. This will help eliminate typing errors week-by-week, which can throw off my formulas.

REMINDER:

• The Pick'em Form will lock on Gameday next Saturday, so be sure to submit your picks by the end of Friday!

I'm going to crop in that standings list so I can see the number one next to my name and I won't show any of the rest of it. That way I can crown myself the champion for at least a week. Tie? What tie? Didn't the bubs earn a national championship that way?

A couple of those games might be a toss up. Who wins the EWU/ UIW game? Before yesterday I would have picked incarnate word unequivocally. However their performance yesterday gave me some pause, and then I ended up picking them anyway because they have the homefield advantage (and EWU has been so bad lately). I mostly chose the home teams other than Idaho State and Davis. The versus app thinks Southern Utah is going to beat Idaho State but I actually watched Idaho State play yesterday so I do not agree with that one.

And I really like the new process!

Chadron State is equally as bad as No Colorado at the D-II level. Tough call.
Can Eastern play defense against UIW in the heat AND humidity of San Antonio?
Do the bunny rabbits have enough offense to take on the ho-nets?
Will BYU play all the frosh against Portland and still win 42-0?
Is this the year the Pioneer Football League sends a 6-6 conference champion to the playoffs?
Can Idaho State play two solid road games in a row?

I picked San Diego because they're at home and they usually have a pretty decent team even though they are in the pioneer. A Big Sky conference team should beat a pioneer League team in theory, but since this is reality I picked the team I thought would actually win.

The first week is a warm up game for everyone. So team a re playing up and traveling or playing down and paying the other team to travel. Just pick the home teams.

I remember clearly Chadron State coming into Bozeman and sticking it to the Cats 35-24 in 2006. The week before the Cats had upset Colorado in Boulder. Chadron had a running back that had 215 yards on 33 carries...his name was Danny Woodhead.

What a golden memory that was! I had made plans with a cat friend in Spokane that next weekend. All I had to do was smile when we met to get a knowing ‘FU’ response.
