I can’t imagine they could make us cancel the contract but I’m sure it would be awkward playing a team twice, the 2nd time counting as a con game. Im guessing they’d give us both the option to reschedule if we can, which I’m thinking both schools would want to. If one can’t? That’s where it might get intresting.Just ignore the 26 schedule that’s posted right now. It’s gonna get re-made. What’ll be interesting is if the Big Sky will let us keep Utah Tech on our non-conference schedule or if we’re gonna have to cancel that.
I think in this case, the contract would be voided, and there is probably a clause in that or an agreement with the teams joining that the games they have schedule are subject to being replaced.I can’t imagine they could make us cancel the contract but I’m sure it would be awkward playing a team twice, the 2nd time counting as a con game. I think it should almost be a yearly thing. We should get a home and home with one of the ivy league schools for OOC since they are now in the playoffs
This is exciting news for me when trying to plan a summer trip home AND catch a Griz game. The other thing that’s gonna be interesting is now the season will start on August 29 instead of September 5 next year.
They already decided to move it to 12. That was approved a couple months ago and that’s why the Big Sky decided to move to a 9 game schedule. So that’s happening for sure.
I suspect what will happen is the Big Sky will let us keep Utah Tech on our non-conference schedule and won’t schedule us against each other in conference play. That way we won’t have to scramble to find another home game to replace them with. This same thing happened to us when Cal Poly joined the Big Sky. That makes the most sense for the time being.
The other thing that’s gonna be interesting is now the season will start on August 29 instead of September 5 next year. Teams were originally planning for non-conference to be 9/5-9/19 and now it’s supposed to be 8/29-9/12. But because nobody has non-conference games scheduled for 8/29 yet and multiple teams have games scheduled on 9/19 (including UM @ OSU) I could see a scenario where the Big Sky schedules a conference game week one on 8/29. Especially since it’s still week zero for FBS teams and a lack of options for FCS teams. Interested to see.
The 12-game schedule is still just a proposal, and no one even has an announced game if it gets voted down and Aug 29 is week 0. I don't see why it won't be approved, but it isn't yet official. This is exciting news for me when trying to plan a summer trip home AND catch a Griz game.

I would be all for this, but here's why that is a tough thing.I think it should almost be a yearly thing.
My apologies! The story I had from June 25 announced the accepted proposal. Not sue how my dyslectic self decided it was still hanging out there for a vote.FCS has adopted 12 games. Will begin 2026 season.
From what I am hearing, with the new 12 game schedule, the BSC is seriously considering a 9 game conference schedule. I am not sure how that will work in 26.My apologies! Still, no one has scheduled any games for the first week of 2026. I hope it's not a bunch of lower division games in there. We will still have to add two more after the reshuffle.
I would like to see with this, 3 common games annually. That way we could trade out Portland State for Idaho and Eastern on our schedule every year. From what I am hearing, with the new 12 game schedule, the BSC is seriously considering a 9 game conference schedule. Sounds like too much common sense for the BSC... and who really thinks they'll let us trade out for what makes sense?I would like to see with this, 3 common games annually. That way we could trade out Portland State for Idaho and Eastern on our schedule every year.
I can at least dream about it until they roll out the latest disaster.Sounds like too much common sense for the BSC... and who really thinks they'll let us trade out for what makes sense?
