How Do Student Athletes Feel I Wonder About the "Opt in House Settlement " ?

Looks like student athletes were not offered a seat at the table. Volleyball for example does not bring in a lot of money so they will not get to share a lot.

Haslam says "But for just self-generated revenue, we'll most likely divvy that out based on the amount of revenue that, that sport brings in. It's a good formula. It seems to be working for a lot of people and it seems to make sense that you invest in the sports that bring the most money back in."
 
Football, GRIZ men's bball and the LG bring in the most revenue so we should invest more $ in the those three programs than the programs like volleyball that don't bring in as much revenue. While volleyball is never going to bring on as much revenue as football snd basketball 🏀, as GTID pointed out with both humor and truth, they might give the LG a run for their money if they could ever put a decent, winning product on the court to replace the excuses on why our VB team sucks and is helpless to improve !!!

Have them come recruit Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, and the Dakotas. Seems that the geographic center of volleyball powers has shifted from California to the Midwest.

Nebraska women's volleyball sold out Nebraska's football stadium a couple years ago.

So there you go.I remember reading about this.Montana has two trains of thought.Basketball and football.I know little about the volleyball program other than they have floored very few good teams. I was just using that as an example.

Kent Haslam,the Griz fans deserve a competitive volleyball program and as the AD you are the one who can make it happen. Look at associate head coach of the SDSU Jackrabbits, Courtney Chacon, as the next Griz head coach. She is also their recruiting coordinator and SDSU recruits the Midwest very well.
 
I have some theories as to why Haslam won’t let Allison Lawrence go but I won’t say them publicly. If anyone would like to know, shoot me a PM.
 
Days are numbered for olymipc sports.

For the Griz and most others, NIL funds will go to football players...and then to a few, select others. The market will determine percentages by position group with QBs at elite schools earning millions to start. Crazy times and going to cause a huge transition for olympic sports...eventually, many will be unfunded.

Sad, but probably true. At this point it's hard to argue tax dollars should go into this system. Not even pretending the opportunity to compete is a valuable component of a university education any more. As a 6 decade fan of intercollegiate athletics across the board it's a depressing state of affairs.

I agree. It’s truly terrible and not what sport and college sports should be. My interest in donating to NIL at all and even to college athletics generally has declined significantly. I can’t imagine that any money from the athletic budgets, which has the state contribution should or will go to individual players, except as scholarships. Funds donated to the NIL or specifically for a fund for players is different, if kept separate. I understand that now it’s of importance to buy players, but I will not be interested in that or part of that.

A new College athletics NIL Bill was officially introduced in the US House yesterday. This tweet I found interesting as one section of the bill mandates schools to offer 16 sports which would be good news for Olympic sports and I love that they put a protection for these sports in the bill. Currently UM only offers 15 sports, so if this bill passes then we would need to add a sport (I vote for Men's Golf).

This could be a dead horse issue, but if Montana needed to add another sport hockey would be one to at least consider. There is already a rabid hockey community in Missoula, that ranges from kids to adults, and the rink facilities at the county fairgrounds might be usable for the Griz (at least in the beginning).
