MBBALL DJ, A first for the BSC

Yes, congratulations to Dillon Jones.
And congratulations too to Sam Presti, the G.M. of the Thunder.
Imagine being a small market team with Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russell Westbrook on your roster. And then, gradually, poof! They're all gone.
So what do you do?
You tear it all down and build from the ground up.
Sure, it takes time, but look at what he's got: Not only an NBA championship but enough draft capital to build out what could be a seven to ten year dynasty.
Such an astute judge of talent.
And one of his secrets? Drafting kids from good families. Now he's got a team that acts and plays very much like a family.
One question: Can this family stay a family?
Question for Jones is, can he retain his roster spot with so much young talent still yet to arrive for the Thunder?
No matter, he's a good young player and he'll find another roster spot in the NBA.
And how great to win an NBA championship when a lot of superstars never did.
Like the guy who never thought a "jump shooting team" (a.k.a. the Warriors) would ever win a championship.
Sorry, Charles.

Good points City. Although the college game is vastly different from the NBA, building from a family point of view is a good way to look at it. If everything evolves in the direction it is headed, collective bargaining and longer term contracts will be a thing in college sports. It might open up the door for trades, buyouts, and other NBA like activities. That would be totally different from the 100% free agency of the portal.

Weber has always been about recruiting freshmen first and then filling in the gaps with transfers. I think UM is much the same. Last year was a truly disappointing thing for Weber, but most years that formula has worked well. I feel that is why three or four programs around the BSC are generally at the top. If it was strickly about getting the best talent, PSU would always be one of the top teams. It's really about getting the best guys who fit together as a team, like a family. Well, some families. ;-)

Traded to the Wizards. More opportunity for him there.
Maybe. Hope so.

Lillard was put on waivers today after his season ending, and probably next season, injury to his Achilles. He had nearly $120 million guaranteed on his contract over the next two years. The negotiated deal will ease the salary cap issue that the Bucks were experiencing and pay him $22 million per year over a five year period. He will be free to sign with anybody he wants when he recovers from the injury and still keep the guaranteed money. Not a bad deal for either party.

And guess what this could mean: Lillard returns to his native Bay Area to play for the Warriors while the Bucks pick up his salary, sparing the Warriors their cap problem.

Forget the “Splash Brothers.” Lillard and Steph could be the “Tsunami Brothers!”

Don't do Klay like that! Love that guy.

Yeah, me too. Anyway, more likely Dame signs with Portland. He loves it there. And the great irony is that thanks to his being traded, the Blazers now have the pieces around him that they lacked before. They’re now a team with a very high ceiling. Dame might be just that piece to get them to a championship.
