Villanova

Ya but the Patriot League? That’s a step down for football. Maybe they’re cutting back on football to focus on academics? This move seems odd.
Richmond and Bill & Mary are already making the same move.
JMU and Delaware being gone also doesn't help the CAA.
The CAA will be losing 3 of their top 4 programs from the past 2 season standings.
Maybe the Patriot league has a vision to become the premier conference of the Northeast, I don't know but the CAA seems like a sinking ship

Is it really though?
Won't be after these changes. Most years, the Patriot has had a least one (sometimes two) solid contenders. Now they'll have four or five. Beyond that, these moves make total sense from a rivalries and revenue perspective. Before the CAA went crazy with expansion, these three teams – 'Nova, W&M and Richmond – played each other regularly, which generated a lot of fan excitement and TV interest. With the giant conference, that didn't happen ... the Spiders haven't played Villanova since the 2022 season, and won't play them in 2025. I'm sure not having to split the conference revenue with so many crappy programs is also a big factor.
