After signing as a UDFA with the Bills, Hayden was selected with the 11th pick in the CFL Draft. Congrats Hayden! Go Griz!
His NFL rights belong to the Bills. His CFL rights belong to the BC Lions. If he ever does play in the CFL, he must negotiate with the Lions. So how does this work since he already signed as an UDFA?
Well the guy said "If the NFL falls through" something something they're there or somethingSo how does this work since he already signed as an UDFA?
He is bound by the NFL UDFA contract and can't proceed with his CFL team until that is terminated. So how does this work since he already signed as an UDFA?
Hayden Harris signed a 3 year, $2,975,000 contract with the Buffalo Bills, including $10,000 signing bonus, $10,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $991,667. In 2025, Harris will earn a base salary of $840,000 and a signing bonus of $10,000, while carrying a cap hit of $843,333 and a dead cap value of $10,000.Thanks y'all that makes more sense now.
Do drafted CFL players make more money than free agents, like in the NFL? I know the CFL pays peanuts compared to the NFL so maybe the salary range is smaller there, I honestly don't know.
(I spent four years in Canada but the extent of my CFL knowledge was learning that their fields were longer and they only got three downs so I decided CFL football was stupid. I was young and dumb so don't hold it against me.)

He gets the bonus and guarantee plus a weekly stipend for any training camp.
Average CFL salary is $70,000
That’s the average in USD. The average is around $115,000CAD.Maybe I wasn't clear about how I asked that question. I was wondering if DRAFTED CFL players make more money than free agent CFL players. (Obviously the NFL pays far, far more for both drafted and UDFA. ) Also, if that's the actual average salary in the CFL, that's HORRIBLE, especially in Canadian dollars!!!
Still really badThat’s the average in USD. The average is around $115,000CAD.
Average first year earnings for UM graduates is around $40,000 USD to $115k is not bad compared to the general population entering the work force.Still really bad
Seems bad for a professional athlete, especially compared to the NFL.Average first year earnings for UM graduates is around $40,000 USD to $115k is not bad compared to the general population entering the work force.
Yeah it is crazy how high the NFL is even compared to 10 years ago. Pretty soon the rookie minimum in the NFL will be over a million, in 2017 it was $465k.Seems bad for a professional athlete, especially compared to the NFL.
Nfl owners make just a little bit more then cfl owners too I imagine.Yeah it is crazy how high the NFL is even compared to 10 years ago. Pretty soon the rookie minimum in the NFL will be over a million, in 2017 it was $465k.
