Couple of other points (re Wikipedia): (1) Sampson is a Native American from a tribe I never heard of in North Carolina ("Lumbee"). (2) While earning a Master's degree from Michigan State, he served a year as a graduate assistant for Jud Heathcote.Kelvin won back to back Frontier Conference championships in 1984 and 1985 in Butte
Jud Heathcoate is one of many great coaches Montana has had over the years. The GRIZ have an awesome coaching tree. Magic Johnson was one of my favorite players.Jud Heathcoate is one of many great coaches Montana has had over the years. National champion with Magic Johnson
These designations are pretty fluid, but I would venture to say that Sampson could be consideredJud Heathcoate is one of many great coaches Montana has had over the years. National champion with Magic Johnson
Not sure why the system lopped off the end of my sentence, which was suppose to include ... "a member of the Heathcote coaching tree." Just looked that up and I see that Sampson is considered a member of the Heathcote "tree", despite the short direct association of the two. These designations are pretty fluid, but I would venture to say that Sampson could be considered
IMHO Duke should’ve been put in another bracket. Too close to home.No drama in the second game of the day. Duke clobbered Baylor, 89-66. But what else would you expect? The game was played in Raleigh, N.C. ... about 25 miles from the Duke campus. Ouch!
Totally agree. It's not like the names of the so-called "regions" mean anything real anyway.IMHO Duke should’ve been put in another bracket. Too close to home.
They want to have big programs play close to their campus to get more fans attending. This is why it was somewhat a head scratcher they sent Wisconsin to Denver and Iowa State to Milwaukee. Iowa State to Denver and Wisconsin to Milwaukee would have made more sense geographically.Totally agree. It's not like the names of the so-called "regions" mean anything real anyway.
